Bump for Shirley
Thanks DebnPete, it's a shame the information is so out of date - and only 3 pages, I notice that the post for North Goa is much more populated!
its not out of date shirley- this thread is from this season only. But yes- it certainly is a lot quieter than the North Goa thread
We have just returned from a brilliant holiday in Cavellossim we can honestly say we
never heard a bad review of any restaurants / shacks or problems for anyone
The village is very chilled and comfortable not many stressed people just the usual moaners and growners
the village facilitys are improving all the time not sure about the big coaches going through though we like the smaller busses
we used the Goan Village the River view and Rossarrios as usual they were all wonderfull the new one next door to the Edwins is getting good reports as well .

It's because we don't want to let on how great the south is!
sorry but like to share
Could'nt agree more Grannypat, we did 5 days in Cavelossim and enjoyed every minute. The food on the whole was really good at the places we ate (Mikes Place,Goan Village,Riverview) if I was being picky I would say the food on the nights when they had live singers was not as good and that was simply because of the amount of people attending (and the high standards they have set). We stayed at Casa De Chris which is a superb place, ideal location, spotlessly clean, nice staff and only been open about 6 months. The rooms were so fresh smelling with AC and fans, large TV, empty fridge (no mini bar) nice bathroom with plenty of hot water and breakfast was served at Mikes Restaurant. We all loved our 5 days and the contrast between the north & south is massive,it was nice to be able to walk along decent roads and be able to smell the different aromas from all the wild flowers and to see how clean the south is. We still enjoyed the north and the hustle and bustle that goes with it,but its nice to escape to the south for a few days during our 3 week stay.......cheers Keith
Keith we like to split our holiday like you love the hustle and bustle of the north then down south
We ate at Mikes Place, Goan Village & the Riverview (twice) the food was good in all of them but If I was forced to pick a fav it would be the Riverview. I think there's a different outlook on what people do of an evening in the south, in the north we tend to have a few drinks whilst deciding were to eat, then go for a meal and afterwards have a walk around and maybe call in for a drink somewhere. In the south it was mostly make a night of were you were dining as there tended to be some sort of entertainment on at each of the restaurants, which to be honest seemed to suit the mood of the south (more laid back). There were a couple of nice looking places on the same rd as Mikes & Goan Village but as we only had 4 nights and we were a bit cautious about trying them as we had used the others before. Hopefully someone will try them and maybe let us know what they thought of them and I suppose there's always next year for us to try them......Keith
