Yes. The Elephant shop had my Nokia N95 unblocked in March last year. It was just out at the time and they said it was the first of that model, but it was no problem. I think it cost around 250-300 rupees.

Whether an N95 8Gb can be unlocked depends on the operating system software version it's running. Old versions can be unlocked, new cannot, or cnnot easily be unlocked. In order to unlock the newer versions you have to downgrade the operating system and that will often brick the phone. It also voids the warranty.

Also there is a difference between unlocking and debranding with the N95 Series. Debranded phones no longer have the service providers software or icons etc. but they are still locked to the network so if you do go ahead make sure they are doing the right thing. Debranding also voids your Nokia warranty.

A better idea might be to have a look on e-bay for a turbo sim. They are about £ 10 and it will allow you to use your N95 with any sim.

Thanks to you both, bit of a dilemma then ? What you said Fritz is what I was vaguely aware of, better with the sim Idea then methinks :think

Well what a result, my friend said to phone them as they do it for free, lo and behold they sent me the code via e-mail and the instructions, well worth phoning your customer services asking rather than having to risk bricking your phone and paying for it to be done :tup
