Hi All
Went to FCRS in Dec 08, just booked for June 09, thats how good i think it is, and here is why.
The rooms are very clean, the pools are well maintained. the waiters are excellent, the drinks are fine, the food is very good and varied.
Just a few tips,
1). Using the cash dispenser, Turn right out of the gates keep walking past the precinct till you reach the second precinct, pass the first ATM (small local bank) and use the second ATM (Larger Bank 'I Think it has a red livery') the reason for this is that the other 'local bank ATM's) are more often than not fussy about dispensing anything over £20 Egyptian (about £2.00 Sterling) and thats no good to anyone.
2). If you are booking for Cairo 'Pyramids at Gisa' consider flying and get your own guide (comes with the same trip) as you only have to leave at 6.00am and get back about 9.00pm instead of 1.00am an the coach, also. the visit to Cairo is shortened if you go by coach.
3). Careful when handling Egyptian money (It is well known as dirty money) as the notes can carry bacteria from previous handling and can result in illness.
4). Leave the tops on the kids for the first few of days as sunburn is rapid in the day, and the suffering is severe at night.
6.). For the smokers, Beware of fake fags, Get your fags from the supermarket, out of the 'front gate' turn left, 200 yards on your left, the fakes are the same price anyway, and are awful, 100 yards further-on is a good chemist that opens late (10.00pm) and good english speaker.
7). Talking about the chemist, If you or your kids get a tummy bug, (as my wife did in Dec 08) dont use the english tablets as they can have an adverse affect, get the local medicine from the chemists. (Local bugs require local remedies).
8). A must do is the 'An evening with the Jodanian Bedowins', good value for money and the Kids will love it.
9). For all PC geeks with a blackberry or laptop, Starbucks has a free WiFi, just sit out side, hook-up and might be an idead to buy a coffee, though not compulsary.
Most of all, enjoy your holiday and dont get bogged down with the compulsary whingers who seem to find fault with everything.
The evening entertainment is a little cheesy, but hey! it is mostly targeted at the kids, There is nothing wrong with the place unless you go out of your way to find it.
Forgot to mention, If you go to Narm 'be on your toes' as you can get ripped off (dont be afraid to walk away from a deal, as a rule of thumb, you know you have reached the right price when he/she no longer follows you all over the place' and its worth trying, "My friend got the same at 'name a low price' and watch for the reaction on the faces. (You know what I mean).
Forgot to mention, If you go see the pyramids, for £200, £100 for the kids Egyptian pounds (£20, £10 Sterling you can go inside the great Pyramid up to Kufu' s chamber, not recommended if you have a bad-back, or are pregnant.
