lukee0705,

NCL-BJV-NCL (TOM764) are operated by a Boeing 757-200. I'm not sure if an ex-TOM or FCA will be up there as yet, I suspect a Thomsonfly though. If you ask again closer to the time, I'll confirm it for you.

Thanks for your reassurance - she was very pushy. We are not too bothered as long as there is 1 adult to 1 child but may end up reserving seats - we have just paid over £3K its silly really.

Anyway do you know what plane we will be on (TOM078) LGW 2nd may cheers :cheers - have the flight films and menus been released for may yet ?

thanks

mum2two,

LGW-CUN-LGW (TOM078/9) are operated by a former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. Refer to our What Aircraft? thread for more details. IFE listing for May / June haven't been released as yet.

Hi, The flight im flying on is above the TOM508 to Sharm on the 3rd June 09 from Glasgow and someone replied saying it was a 757-200 with winglets....Just wondered what are winglets? I may be being very stupid here lol. And also does this mean there are television screens on the back of the seats or are the dropdown?

Thanks
Stephaneie :)

Some of the Boeing 757-200 fleet, particularly those being used on further afield destination such as Egypt, Greek Islands and Cyprus, are being retro-fitted with blended winglets. These are vertical extensions to the wings (photo along the 737-800 wing here showing the winglet). Without getting too technical, these winglets are being fitted to many aircraft types as they increase lift and reduce drag by reducing air 'escaping' from the edge of the wingtip. The 'escaping' air causes wintip vorticies and drag. In effect, the last section of the wing produces little lift and is inefficient. The addition of winglets significantly reduces this allowing the wing to perform more efficiently producing aerodynamic benefits to the airframe including;

A reduction in fuel burn and emmissions (less power to produce the same lift)
A reduction in engine maintenance (as they are less stressed)
Improved range and/or payload
Improved handling and stability
Faster climb to altitude
Increased initial cruise speed
Greater safety margins
Environmental benefits

Thomson Airways are due to receive blended winglets on their 767-300/ER fleet later this year with initial figures suggesting a 6.5% reduction in fuel burn.

Darren Made A Very Good Explanation Which I Have Included Above, Here Is A Photo Of An exFirst Choice With Winglets (Boeing 757-200 G-OOBH)

The TV Screens Are Located In The Aisles, As Always On A Thomson Airways Boeing 757

dinner-lady,

There Is A Bulkhead In Front Of You So As Far As I Know The TV's Are In The Arm Rests Of Your Chair, And There Would Be Not Much Room For People To Walk In Front Of You.

We are flying to Punta Cana from MAN on 6th May. Ive been ringing for the last 3 weeks to try to get night before check-in at Manchester but keep being fobbed off. Is this available and if so, is it worth it? We are staying at a Thomson Premier hotel so is this service free or will we have to pay??

sorry about the questions but I have just found this forum so am buzzing that I may get some answers!!
We are going to Punta Cana on 6th May from Manchester with Thomsons. The hotel is from the Premier brochure so we automatically get seated together - but this is where our problem lies! We have a 7yo boy and so would like a window seat and don't mind being separated by an aisle but depending on the layout of the plane, if it is a 2-4-2 we will probably end up being sat in the middle as they won't split us up. I've explained this to my TA but they were a bit clueless so I decided to book night before check in so that I can explain this at the desk and maybe get the seats we'd like. I've been trying for the last 3 weeks to get this facility but keep getting told to "ring back next week" as the computer is "being updated" - a couple of times I've even been told that this facility doesn't exist! So, I am getting more and more confused by the day (not difficult, ask my husband!) and if anyone can give me a bit of clarity I would be forever grateful!

deblight,

Are You Flying On The TOM126/7?

If So These Are Operated By An ex Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304ER,
These Are Configured 2-4-2,
Seating Is Pre Allocated The Day Before Your Flight, So It Does Not Matter How Early You Turn Up To The Airport As This Will Not Be Changed,

For A Charge You Can Book Specific Seat Numbers If You Want (Up To 6 Weeks In Advance) Contact Thomson Airways(0871 231 4787) Cheaper Numbers Can Be Found On saynoto0870.com

Your flight, BHX-PUJ-BHX (TOM652/3) are operated by a former First Choice aircraft; that's why there are 9 rows of premium seats. The former Thomsonfly aircraft have 5 rows.

I've done it, booked our seats and got a window seat. Thank you ever so much for your help

dinner-lady,

As GowerL7 mentions, the tray table and IFE screen fold out of the armrest in row 1. This means the seats are slightly narrower. Passengers are requested not to cross from one side of the cabin to the other at extra legroom seats to avoid disturbing passengers (and it's a little tight when legs are streched out). Passengers are also requested not to cross the aircraft through the galleys. However, as the toilet in the premium cabin is located on the port side, passengers on the right have to pass through the galley in the premium cabin.

On flight TOM126/7 what seat nos are the premium ones?
Reply
deblight,

Day before check-in is only available at Gatwick. Premium seats are rows 1-5 on the ex-Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304/ER's.
