Just spotted a deal on http://www.virginholidayscruises.co.uk which is also showing on teletext P228.

From Amsterdam on 13 May, 10 night cruise into Baltic including St Petersburg, returning to Amsterdam. ship is Costa Mediterranea, and the price (including return flights from Heathrow) is £299 for inside guarantee. On teletext the price is showing at £349, but that is for an outside. We have called, and this is a genuine offer and we could have flown direct from Edinburgh for only a £70 supplement. When we were waiting on Virgin calling back my wife remembered she has an important medical appointment in the middle of the cruise.

Perhaps someone else can pick up what is an incredible offer! Not sure if transfers will be included, but Amsterdam port is a breeze from the airport...train from airport to the central station which is less than half a mile from the cruise terminal.

Thats naughty for UK pricing.
Checking the on-line price for one ofthe trips the prices do seem to include the normal taxes/fees so may be a mistake in the T&C's
There was however a £39 booking fee.
Also in addition to any cruiseline fees there are on top
cancellations £50pp
Ammendments £25pp

I Also noted on sign up for emails the following

I have just been checking out some prices for the Solstice for the 7th September 11 night in the Med.
They are showing that they give a 15% discount and their price is much less than any comparable UK based TA.
Their number which is 0800 free phone takes you through to the US. They tell me they are a online based TA and are ABTA bonded . Trade in the UK as Viva Cruises. When I look at their details it tells me that all Ebookers cruises are booked through Viva.
I got all the answers I wanted and the price is £300 less for a grade inside 9 and £500 less for the 2B balcony. They have added on a £29 fee within this but the total still remains well below the UK pricing. Summit prices are lower but the new Ship is the attraction. They will do flights as well but nothing from Leeds/Bradford. Jet2 fly L/B so we would use them.

I can book on line or call them. I have never booked with a US agency before but the fact that this TA is ABTA bonded in the UK makes them a safer bet for me I think.

We used them (INVALID URL recently for our Costa T/A and found them to be absolutely fine. The way to avoid the booking fee is to go onto http://www.cruisecompete.com for any cruise you are considering. The way this works is that cruisecompete circulate your request across all of the US (and some UK) agencies, and smartcruiser almost always respond (with a price which excludes the booking fee)! We find they are normally lowest price, but not always as sometimes agencies offer some on board credit etc.

For that cat 9 7 sept solo rate they have

dont forget the fee when the price drops happen unles they are going to waive that.

My mistake Windjammer! I was looking at the X price and of course there is no discount off.
Smart cruises £2044 for a 9 and ££2270 for 2B
SCC would go to £2099 and £2370

BUT the price of my inside has dropped by £230 overnight but the 2B remains the same.
SCC price difference for me yesterday £59 and for the Balcony £109. I have asked for advice on this from a trusted H/T member and his advice is stick with SCC when the differential is such.

Again HT a great place for helping in every which way.

I agree stick with the one you know will be handle price drops properly and free, since they are highly likely this year, I think the over 55 discounts might kick in at some point as well these can give great savings on Celebrity.

Not worth the risk for £50-£60 saving now.

We are likely to be taking an ex UK Celebrity later this year so always keen to find a good place to book.

Cruise1st have Thomson Destiny 7n Med 6/13 Nov AI from £499

I think this is failry good for those that like the AI option.

I am not quite sure what is going on with Celebrity and their Alaska cruises. I found myself accidentally on the Alaska page instead of the Med. page and unbelievably they have Millennium 7 nights cruise out of and back to Vancouver for £198 tax added I think making it £260. This is on an inside guarantee basis also great prices for all grades including balcony. Date 4th September. There are openings all summer on Mercury as well as Infinity and of course Millennium At this price the is well under £40 per day. If you were booking through a TA then you would have a further 10% or even 11% which is what Ali is now prepared to give me this would take the cost down to £240!
Of course you would have a flight cost but if someone wanted to have a week in Vancouver or tour that beautiful area the cruise is a give away.

Had another look at this and on the 18/9 there is a 10 nighter at a cost of £439 including all taxes and this is for a grade 12 inside Single occupancy is £643 including tax but of course their is still the airfare. I personally have enough Air Miles for a T/A flight to the US or Canada so maybe some of you out there may be in a similar position.

I am talking about Alaska of course.

Alaska is well overcapacity this year loads of bargains even with the new tax

Looks like US people are starting to cut back and/or book later.

NCL have pulled the Sun out of alaska for 2010 replacing the Jewel in the Baltic which is going to NY.

Find the flights and good value trips can be put together.

I think more to come all over the summer, great if you have the cash and time.

I remember the last downturn Seabourn < £1kpp for a week was possible in the Med.

Booked Norwegian Jade, sailing 29 September for 10 nights boarding at Athens, and disembarking at Istanbul. Cost was $937, approximately £650 cruise only. They have a one-day offer sale on certain NCL cruises. Have been tracking this one for a few months now, and this is a really good price. On the UK NCL website it is close to £900 for the inside guarantee we have booked. Flights from Gatwick are £75pp return with easyjet and we are planning on a couple of nights in Athens pre-cruise and one night in Istanbul post-cruise.

If anyone out there has any tips on getting from/to airports etc. at Athens and Istanbul, please post or PM me.
