Just got my Euros for Italy . Used Tesco. Many of their big shops have exchanges inside. The rate was as good as anywhere else, commision free and because I used my tesco credit card there were no charges either from the exchange or the card and I get 52 days interest free credit on the money and 25 tesco points per £250 (which is x 4 when I cash them in for next year's holiday) and the points on the card as well. It was the best deal I could find. You need to take your passport or photo driver's licence with you.

Hi
Only 5 more sleeps until we go to Cyprus for the first time. :sun2 I was going to take just euro's but after reading a couple of posts of theft and noticing on my holiday Insurance that you are only covered for £200 worth of euros am now thinking of taking some TC's.
I presume it is easy to change TC's in places they will be sterling so shouldn't have to pay any charges.
Thanks Irene

The time is nearly upon us...

Where is the best deal for EUROS to be had at the moment?

In past years I've used the Post Office as they seem to have good deals on "bulk" currency. But whose buying where?

Hope someone can help here!
In July I went to the Murcia region, and had a real problem exchanging travellers cheques. The first bank we tried said they didn't cash them at all. To cut a long story short, we paid someone to take us to the nearest town that had a number of banks. Santander were the only ones who would cash them, and then only a certain amount per day. Does anyone know if there's a problem with travellers cheques? We weren't in a resort, they were sterling cheques, and there were no money exchange places. I do have accounts at Santander, but they wouldn't even give me money on my card.... :banghead:
My next holiday is in Benidorm, so I know there won't be a problem there, but I have noticed that eurochange have been offering a lower rate for cheques than cash, not today though it's the same rate, but it's the first time it has been for nearly 2 weeks.

Just ordered my Euros online at the Post Office - rate much better than walking in off the street and they deliver free to your door or to your local Post Office (over £500). Got 1.128 - waited too long as it's been dropping a wee bit every day. Anyway - needed them so I just went for it. Rate really depressing! :sun2 :sun2 :sun2 :sun2 :sun2

Hello. Some advice much appreciated here please! We are going to Lanzarote in December and obviously we need euro's there. I am wondering if we should buy them now or wait till nearer the time, which is what we usually do???

Hi mainy .. the £/€ exchange rate is very poor at the moment, in fact this evening's news bulletins are reporting it to be at a 6 month low. I'm not aware of any financial experts having predicted that specific fall in recent days, and so it would be pretty impossible to predict what the situation might be in December. You perhaps just have to take a gamble and do what you feel most comfortable with.

Hi, after much advice I've decided to get my Czeck korunas from Marks and Spencer. My question is can I just walk in to any branch and order them or will I have to do it on-line? Also if I can buy at the store do I need to buy in cash or will they accept debit card?
Hoping for some replies soon as I'd like to get them sorted this week. Thanks!
