The football coverage at the Holiday Village is better than I have at home lol. I am sure they will show the Champions League final in the Sports Bar, but it will probably be on your room TV as well. They had one channel that showed the weekends premiership matches on a loop, my DS was in his element. Think when we were there it was the Champions League quarters and they were on in the Sports Bar.

Re covering up. Really the hotel is full of Brits so of an evening I would say smart casual, but there were young girls wearing short denim skirts, strappy tops etc In general most folk made an effort of an evening, especially in the a la cartes. Although I did see a couple in the buffet of a night in shorts, football tops and flipflops but they were in the minority.

I'm not sure if you are a lady or gentlemen but if the former, I wouldn't recommend walking about in Namma Bay etc with your boobs hanging out or a lot of leg on display. It's a matter of both respect for a differing culture and how much attention you want. There again once you see what some of the Eastern Europeans wear you start wondering why you bothered to be discreet. :rofl

Have a great holiday.

Hi all,

We going here 5 weeks tomorrow, & counting, :clap .

I was wondering what i will have to pay for once we are there, such as kids activities for my daughter who is 10, and for anything else?

Thanks
Sarah

hi, didn't realise that the HVRS was part of the Atlantica chain. I also notice that they call it the Coral Sea Holiday Village which may be why there is sometimes confusion between hotels. Here is the Atlantica link which may be of use :cheers

The a la carte resturants ask that men wear long trousers. To be honest, last year my husband wore shorts and a shirt and was allowed in. Jeans were fine and Ladies could wear anything apart from swim wear.

There is no presure to tip the hotel staff, you can do it as a good will gesture and they were more than happy with any loose change.

There are loads of shops inside and out of the complex.

Wait until you are in Egypt to change your money. There is a better exchange rate in Egypt. If I am honest, we took £600 with us last year and it was plenty. We are going back next week and will not be changing any of our money as all of the shops, including McDonalds, take English Pounds.

Sorry, I cant answer all of your questions but hope this helps.

1-in the a la carte restaurants do the men hav to wear long pants ( my Husband wore jeans and kids wore quarter lengths me a vest and cotton long trousers

2-we have been given a junior suite, does any one know where they are in the complex and what are they like ( this one a friend over there the same time said they were fine kids liked them

3-it seems normal for people to tip the staff, after reading up on this i am unsure what to bring,a lot of people say they fetch a bag of £1 coins ( we tipped a £1 / £2 at a time when we left we did give a man there £10 English that's about 50 Egyptian but very grateful for what ever they get

4-how much does the zip wire cost ( when we went Dec 08 it was £5

5-how much does the Internet room cost??( was £2.50 for 15 Min's and £4 for half hour

6-what kind of plug adapter do i bring?? ( in all hotel rooms are the 3 prong plugs same as uk

7-is there many shop inside ans outside the complex (yeah in side there is a food shop but you better off going to the 7/11 outside much cheaper

One more thing i will say if your going to go on any trips then go to the jasmine center and see Pete a englishman he moved there 8 years ago and he dose all the same trips as first choice at half the price as first choice and he is fully insured to this is his email he will email all the trips and prices

Hi there, we are going to the HV in June and will be looking to book a trip to Luxor so will need a visa. I have been told to take $15 US to pay for the visa each in the airport, because it is cheaper and easier this way. Is this the case. Also I have read that there is a supermarket and malls outside, Can anybody tell me where thay are exactly, thanks

Regarding the zip wire is that £5.00 each go? :think because if you have more than one child it will work out quite expensive over two weeks. :really

Its because they have a captive audience of people who cant be bothered to walk across the road an use it there.

If you need to spend a lot of time on-line its a quarter of the price in the malls across the road from the HV. The Starbucks has free wifi if anyone has taken their lap top with them.

Hi the malls are just up the road called Al Khan and La Strada - fab Peking restaurant here. There is 24/7 supermarket but a much better one is just up the road opposite La Strada called Metro.

There is an interent at La Strada but there is a cheaper one down the road at Arabsat next to Jasmine. Yoiu have to walk through a shop and go upstairs. I bought a phone in Vodafone in Sharm and can email and get online and the last visit including calls, internet and texting all the time cost me just 50le for 15 days. Sim cards are only 25le and alot cheaper to make calls and text to Egyptian numbers.

The hotels charge a fortune - my monthly internet charge is only 150le.

Also recommend Pete for his trips which are insured. He does a St Georges Red Sea Cruise on a Thurs for just £20 each including lunch and all soft drinks.

Alhambra shisha cafe at La Strada also has Wifi and think the Zone pub does as well now.

If you fancy sausage, egg and bacon there is Churchills just down the road at the parade of shops in front of LTI Grand Azure.

El Masrien restaurant is opening soon and Onfish is also quite good - at La Strada.

Hi all
i went to HV with hubby and kids last september, and really want to go back this year, though havent booked anything yet. One of the best bits last year was the entertainment team, including Tash, Ally and Jason etc. Are any of this team back there or is it a completely new team? I know they were all depserate to be sent to the HV dom rep this season, but i dont think my kids would cope with not seeing "Dangerous Claude" this time round!! if anyone has just recently been, could they let me know? cheers! :)

Hey Tash,

How the heck are you?

Like you I'm desperate to go back this year but we're already booked up for Costa Del Sol Holiday Village. :cry

Tash, Scott and Jason are in Majorca this season, don't know if that's in the Holiday Village or not.

Dangerous Claude is available to see on you tube, just put in holiday village red sea. That's how we get our fix. ;)

pm me and let me know how you all are.

we have just got back at 3am today, had a fab time, only down side was the towels on beds!!!!! all beds round the pools were gone by 6am !!!! people were going out at 4am to get the beds they wanted.
Also can't believe how much poeple have paid for a week £2800 for a family of 4, we only paid £2100 for 2 weeks for a family of 4.
book early for cheap price.

one big down side of having a nice view of pool & sea was the sound from the evening entertainment, it went on till 12 & the kids could hardly sleep due to it being so loud. the room was amazing thou & i would go back. It was very hot & i hate to think how warm in will be in the summer.

any questions please ask, sorry to tired to type more now x

OMG Sun Beds gone by 6am!! That is one of my pet hates on holiday. Bet you half the people are not around to use them half the time either.
Don't the staff remove the towels? At Coral Sea last year if people were not on their beds by 10am all towels and personal belongings were removed and stored in the huts. I think rightly so as well.
Anyway were off in 6 weeks time now and plan to go to Jasmine Centre and St.Georges bar this time round. Think we will do the water park again and do the dessert on quad bikes. Someone said though that you don't get much time on the quads on the dessert trip so is it better to just pay for an hour or two?.
