Shellz.

You'll love castell Montgri, it's a great place for kids (not that i have any!!) and there's plenty to do onsite. Estartit has a great safe beach also

They definitely do (or they certainly used to) trips to Port Aventura. I'm off there next week, so i'll find out the prices for you before you head off.

PS If anyone enjoys walking and they fancy doing some nice walks around Estartit when they go, including the castell or up to the telly aerial, i have some nice links that would come in handy

Thanks Cidermonster

That would be a great help. Cant wait to get there, the site looks fab. My girls are aged 10, 14, and 19 so fingers crossed it will suit all, i think im more excited than them :rofl

hope you enjoy your holiday.

I just looked at our tickets again and it shows that we are on the same seats on the feeder coach as the main coach, I wonder if the main coach will be picking up from Glasgow.

I know if there are enough people leaving they do this.

Cider, if i'm feeling up to it I may do the walk to the castle.

Who are you going with again, Helen? I've had that once before where by luck my feeder coach was the main coach heading out. On the way back, though, we changed!

I'll post some links to my walks on here later for anyone who wants them

We're going with Siesta for the first time, we've always been with Redcrest but when we booked Interbrava didn't have their brochure out.

Sadly Interbrava only do limited coach holidays now (5 this year i think) and the longest are only 11 nights (3 of them including ours are only 7 nights) Shame, as i really enjoy going with Interbrava and the direct coach.

The good lady couldn't get two weeks in a row this year (and then she did ... grrrr at her boss!) but next year i feel i'll be wanting more than a week so Interbrava just won't be an option unless they rethink their plans ... a pity, as two weeks at Castell Montgri in early season is bliss .... so i'm thinking of doing the self-drive next year

If you or anyone else is feeling energetic, here are some walks i've drawn up on MapMyRun.com

Campsite - River Ter - Beach - Town - Campsite

Campsite - Montgri Castle - Campsite

Campsite - Roca Maura - Campsite

Campsite - Nature Reserve - Beach - Town - Campsite

Campsite - River Ter - Torroella - Campsite

Beware, the Castle and Roca Maura walks are hilly and quite steep ... a quick glance shows that the Castle walk is nearly 1000ft above sea level :really

Hi all

Can anyone tell me what the policy is regarding passports in castell montgri, i read on another forum that you have to hand over passports till departure, is this true? and is there any way around it, i would be very wary and concerned about handing them over.

(first time travelling to spain so im afraid im a bit wet behind the ears)

Unless it has changed, each party has to hand over ONE passport to reception

I have to agree i've never been too comfy with it, but i guess it stops people doing a runner!!

Looks like Montgri isn't going to be to busy (or at least the date we go) We just got a free upgrade to a Siesta 8 Lodge. :tup

Will be interesting to see how busy it is ... i get emails from Club C and there are some pretty good deals for late bookers right now to be honest

Early season usually relies on the Brits as other europeans tend to have much more fixed holiday, so it will be interesting to see if numbers are down. Being brutally honest, the quieter the better would do me! :D

Completely agree. I'd like it to be quiet.

Siesta are doing a holiday for 4 adults last week in may first in july for £800.

My good lady used to always get Glasgow fortnight off in her old job, and we never booked anything early .. used to always wait till last min, and always got something

Well only 13 more days for me and i cannot wait........Soooo looking forward to it.. :cheers

Cidermonster.. not long for you now..... it would be great if you could find out the price of port aventura trip. Is is a long trip do you know?

Hoping here too that it will be a bit quiet, but not too quiet as my son is looking forward to making new friends.

It can be 1 hr / 1.5 hrs to Barca depending on traffic, and Port Adventura is near Salou, isn't it, which is about the same distance again southwards past Barca. I'd stab a guess at around 2 - 2.5 hrs to be honest, maybe someone will know better than me though!

Hi,

Last time we went to Portaventur from Estartit it was a 7.30am start, got 1/2 hours down the road and they stopped for a breakfast break for 30 mins, I wasn't happy and asked why they just didn't leave 30 mins later in the morning, I don't think I can post the reply here lol

In all it was 3 hours there and 2 1/2 hours back. Kids were a bit hyper on the way there so it was a bit of a pain but they slept all the way back.

Happy Holidays

Oh thanks for that. :cheers I couldn't stand being on a bus for that long. Hopefully they wont ask to go cause they will be having a ball on site..... well here's hoping anyway

Hello Beckie

There is loads for the kids to do on site, there's no need to go to far afield with them. I've been going for the past 10 years with the kids and they all loved it, now there all grown up we tend to go to Benidom just me & hubby. The youngest was 3 the first time we went and the oldest 16 the last time I was there and I never once heard them say they were bored.

We done some of the smaller trips with the kids which might be better for you that way your not paying out a lot of money on 1 trip.

The water parks are great, so was snorkelling with the reps and some of the boat trips we were on.

If ever you do hear the "b" work, there's always bowling at jocks which is something different to try, really cheap but only open at night.

Hope this helps

Jocks?

Has there been a Scottish takeover? :rofl
