Hi - my name is Amanda and I've booked a holiday to Turkey in August this year for our family (me, my husband Nick and 2 boys aged 18 and 14). It's our first time - always gone to Greece before, so I'm really looking forward to trying somewhere new (but a bit scared too!). Any advice would be welcome.
hi amanda, like you id been going to greece before i went to turkey!i didnt think id like turkey however my parents offered to pay so who was i to turn down a free holiday that was in 2005!been going back ever since and am now married to a turkish guy for nearly 3 years so what can i say lovely country with interesting history, culture, language etc, really friendly and hospitable people-you will have a fab time im sure!x

The last few years we've been to Crete, staying on the North West coast. I love Chania, particularly the old town for strolling around in the evening. I don't think Fethiye is going to be as pretty, but I love the idea of buying fish and taking it to one of the restaurants for them to cook it. Any recommendations for eating out?
hi amanda never been to this part of turkey it sounds nice you will have a great time
any advice on using mobile phones out in turkey? or is it better to use a phone card to call home?
It is far better to use a phone card and call from a public phone box, you can buy the cards in any supermarket. Mobile phone charges are very high.
It is best to buy a phone card - I nicked my dads mobile last year to call my mate (I accidently left my phone in the car at East Midlands airport), and spent around a fiver on a short chat!
if you need any advice kedi will be able to help you if she can kedi is a star,
All the rooms have a fabulous sea view and the restaurant serves lovely food.
Is it true that you can use any of the hotel pools in Ovacik and HIsaronu? Do you just walk in or do you have to go via reception and ask? Also this guy (cant think of his name now!) with the private beach who you can ring up and he picks you up at your apartment and takes you to the beach and back, can anyone ring him or is it only if you are in certain hotels?
I was wandering if anyone has stayed at the Pasha star apart/hotel in Side Antalya?
I've heard the owner is a bit of a grump but the staff in general are very nice.
I was also wandering if anyone recommends a particular restaurant to visit or place of interest while i'm there?
Staying end of June.
Thanks guys
I'm not a big lover of the transfer coaches
http://www.raintransfer.com i think it is, or just google rain transfer, i got private transfer from dalaman to marmaris last august only £10 and ended up just a few of us on it, so much quicker and comfier! didnt pay till i got there either and i had a phone number i could call or text should i need to, my flight was actually late so i was worried howver they were ready n waiting for me with a sign saying my name
hey, avoid taxis at all costs, soooooooo expensive........last year i booked transfer with thomas cook BUT.......they forgot about me so i had to get taxi cos was in hurry, bloody 150 lira and that was booked my hubby whos turkish so not even though i paid extra for being tourist lol! why dont you book private transfer, many people on here will be able to recommend some, personally i like to use
Hi, I have been to Olu Deniz and Side, which we really liked. Now looking at Bodrum, but will I like it? Looks a bit like greece but heard it can be noisy. One of the hotels- Voyage talks of it in reviews. Is it that bad it can be heard in your hotel room? Says there are amazing views. Would also like sandy beach but hotels say there are and then a review says otherwise! Just not sure what part too try. Looking for quiet- ish area, probably just outside Bodrum. Don't like sound of Marmaris but haven't been there and hope Bodrum's not like that. Oh AI hotel preferably. Any views appreciated to help us decide.
Good luck!
