I agree with toastedmallow, Bitez is a lovely resort, close to Bodrum and Gumbet if you want shops and nightlife but quiet and relaxed if you don't. Bodrum town doesn't have a beach as such but Bitez ha a nice beach, a bit shingy in some parts but sandy in other parts. Bodrum is not like Marmaris, it is much smaller.
I would also say don't bother with AI as there are so many lovely places to eat out and thre are no AI hotels in Bitez anyway.
If you want to know anything else please ask, I use to live near Bodrum for a few years so I may be able to help you.

hi everyone never been to turkey before always gone different parts of spain just wondering what factor of suncream to use for me and the better half.We are both fair skinned and fairish hair i used a 20 and then 15 my wife used 15 then 8 oh i forgot to say we are going last 2 weeks in august that is when we always go .thanks for any help.
Lesmac. It really depends on where you are going. However it will be very hot wherever. If it's the south west med then much hotter than the north west coast.
sorry rik forgot to say we are going to mararmis on the 17 th august staying in the pasa beach hotel A/I.
Lesmac. It will still be very hot, not as hot as Antalya and Side but hot !
we always go in August and the sun is unbeleivably hot - hotter than Spain, so I'd suggest taking something that's higher than you usually use, especially while your skin gets acclimatised
and even more especially so if you're planning on doing any boat trips
I am fairly dark and and tan easily so I will be using a 20 and a 10 in August so if you are fair skinned I would think a 30 would be best to start with. It does get very hot.
Or you can play safe and use Sainsbury's factor 50. Most lotions need to be re-applied after a dip in the sea. Remember to wear a hat.
can't wait

Hi Everybody my name is Jenny and I live in Dalyan, I have been reading about the places you all enjoy going to, but have not seen Dalyan mentioned, must be a well kept secret. Why anyone would want to stay in Marmaris is beyond me, but each to his own. Icmeler we visited this month and I agree it is a fun place, but wouldn't want to stay there too long. Dalyan however has everything, the best beach I have ever seen, it is a conservation area and you can see loggerhead turtles there. You can get to it by boat down the lovely Dalyan river or by Dolmus to the other end of the beach where you can see the turtles. The town is quite lively at night and doesn't close down to the early hours. There is never any trouble with drunken louts and everybody is very friendly, please come and see.
Firstly welcome to the forums. It is always good to have posters with a good knowledge of a certain area. Dalyan sounds great but I have to say I'm heading off to Marmaris tomorrow for my 15th visit in 10 years. I'm not a teenager / lager lout or drunk ( yes ok, once or twice ... lol) but we love it. Each to their own as you say.
Wilson
Hi Wilson, Hope you have a lovely holiday, if you haven't been to Dalyan, do come and have a look while you are here, it is not far by bus and I think you can also get boat trips to Dalyan. All the best Jenny
Dalyan is in the game for our next Turkey
