Yes - will be interesting to see what happens. I do think the top hotels will go quickly as they have this year. I've had Limak Lara booked for a while for next Easter and the price has just risen by £800! Can't see it coming back down.

I can't see people plashing out in this economic climate the prices they are asking for and thomas cook has already said next year will be difficult, I can see a drop in prices for next summer before an increase like this year after xmas.

I usually go to the Dominican Republic in August, and the prices for next summer 2010 did start off high and dropped a bit after a couple of weeks - they are still high though compared with what I paid for this year, with the exception of maybe the odd one.

Thanks for posting the info regarding the phone numbers. Tried the 0871 number first and no joy then used the one Can't quoted and a lovely lady has given me prices. :yikes Have got prices on the places we booked for this year and last to get any idea how they compare - well I nearly fell off my chair. 2ad and 2ch SC with a 'free' child place to Menorca. Paradise Club 1 bed apt £3002 (paid £2050 in 2008) and Galdana Gardens 1 bed apt £2318 (paid £1900 this year). I can see my first DIY coming on ! I can book flights for 2010 and 2 bed accomodation for around £1800 total , obviously need to add on transfers but will still come in a lot cheaper. Dithering a bit whether to hang on to see if prices come down or go ahead and book the flights and private accomodation :think Am very tempted. Advice anyone?

Thanks for supplying the 0844 number

I have just rang and can't believe the price they have just quoted me flying from NCL sept 2010 self catering to Gran Canaria £2228 for 2 adults and 2 kids ,it is only £1275 for the same time this year, there is no way I am paying that, so i'm going to hang fire and see what prices I can get when the brochures come out.

Just rang them - not doing Cala Bona or Cala Millor next year :(

Gave me a quote for 2 adults & 3 children for Bouganvilla Playa in Sa Coma - 24 July 2010 for 14 nts - no free child place for h/b option, only on s/c :que

h/b option £4376
s/c option £3131

I can get a private apartment for £600 for 2 weeks, flights should be no more than £800, private minibus transfer £180 so doing it DIY means I'm effectively getting it for half price and their quote of £3131 for s/c is pretty much my entire holiday including spendies. So looks like I'm going DIY again!

He did say there would be discounts - minimum of £100 but they weren't on the system yet and anyone wanting flight only - they're not on the system yet!

Really narks me that larger families get hammered for under occupancy in apartments - not my fault that my 2nd baby turned into twins but by God, these tour ops like to get their pound of flesh from larger than average families!

In these times of 'crisis' and holiday firms nowhere near selling out their holidays for summer 2009, who thinks it's a good idea by them to jack up the prices even more????? :que

Thats what I was thinking as when I spoke to the lady at Direct Holidays I told her that the price was too high and that it was just under a grand cheaper this year for the same holiday and she said I can give you a discount of £40 I said well its still too high and she said the maximum I can give you off is £100,I said no thanks I will wait it out

I can't see people rushing to book and the joke is TC said price rises of 6% at max, loads are double the price, I think the tour ops will be in for a shock for 2010 bookings, How are families going to afford the silly prices.

I can't believe the prices I am seeing for the bouganvilla.

Give a ring and see how much a 2 bed apartment A/I for the hemera, side turkey with free child place, it might cost a bit more but all your food and drink will be in the price and with 3 kids wanting drinks and ice through the day it will save you a small fortune.

I think others will say the same they can stuff their prices, bet hardly anybody have booked today after being quoted the prices. This will backfire on tour ops big time and unless we see prices drop by at least 40% to 50% they won't be getting my money, I am not willing to pay £6000 to £8000 for a holiday, can do better things with the money. I waiting for easy jet flights to be released for next year and see where I can go on a DIY.

They are flying to antalya next year I think

Honestly have never fancied Turkey - have done Greece and Cyprus and loved them but have had no desire to ever go to Turkey. Don't know why but just don't fancy it - funny how you get things in your head. My Mum's neighbours love it and have bought 2 apartments there but if I'm honest I wouldn't even fancy going if she said we could have one for free. Daft I know! We love Cala Bona/Cala Millor in Majorca so will just wait for flights and go DIY. Thanks anyway!

I know what you mean, we did a daytrip over to Bodrum the 1st time we went to Kos, it was nothing but hassle from the minute we stepped off the boat until the minute we got back on to go back to Kos. I know that other places in Turkey are not going to be as bad but like you say once you get something in your head that you don't like a place it puts you off it completely. Same reason we would never go back to Spain, had a really bad holiday there a few years ago (first & only time to Spain) and we have swore that we will never go back.

All I can say is I hope people won't rush to book just because they're fed up of waiting. If we all stick to our guns and hold off, they are bound to lower their prices :que

We love majorca and must of been at least 12 times now, the best beaches in the med, the best hotel I stayed in was the gran vista in c'an picafort a really nice resort, streets like old majorca with many locals living the area. Some might not like the hotel because its very german but we enjoyed it for a week, done sa coma a few times, callor millor, magluf, palma nova and a couple of resorts i can't remember now.

Thanks for the PM

Well I got priced up today when I rang DH but like others have said I think I will hold out until they lower the prices as i'm not paying £1000 more for the holiday I want

:yikes Those prices you are quoting for summer 2010 are scary and Direct are normally one of the most competatively priced. :really

I didn't want to phone so priced up things for this year, mainly quality AI's in Turkey and AI's in Dom Rep and Cuba for the weeks I want next year and most are in excess of £6000 for 4 as we have to pay for the kids as adults.

If it's going to be even more for 2010 I won't be going on holiday next year. :cry How many can afford that in a recession ? Its ridiculous.

to be fair to DH i was told on the phone today that prices are only a rough guide because prices aren't on the system yet, its brochures they're working from so the £??? discounts which DH usually offer online aren't being taken into account, in actual fact nobody was actually allowed to book holidays today the lady i spoke to said because they're only phoning pre-registered customers therefore anyone not pre-registered won't get their holiday until everybody who did register has had their chance.

They quoted me £1303 for 2 adult and a child half board to CDS flying from Glasgow in June next year, with the child going for free, so worked out £651.50 per adult before any discounts had been taken off...will wait and see what they come up with when the brochures go onto the system because they could only quote me for some hotels, the one i want to go to they wouldn't check for me!!

I am a single male, and I go on holiday my self every year, and more or less pick the same resort

I usualy choose cattolica or lido De jeslo, depending on the resort the holiday price for 2 weeks half board works out as £500 for cattolica and £800-£1000 for lido de jeslo

I decided on the resort and that determines my budget, for 2010 I am looking to go back to Lido De Jeslo, with a budget of £800-£1100, so if the prices have gone up to min of £1500, I wont be booking 5this resort, which mean I then look at Cattolica for my summer 2010 holidays. If it is the case that I must then look at cattolica, and the min prices here is £700, I wont be going unless the TO operator give me a big discount

So overall if this happen with most of there holidays, how can they legally reduce them later, does that mean the hotel owner get paid less, this is something I would have to ask them when considering making a booking, so if I refuse to make the booking, I just wont be going abroad

I pre-registed and was called today and when I phoned up again I said was called today and could of booked, but what I was told the prices are off the system and the brochures are still in print and they don't have the brochures go by. I was told the prices could have errors and that could be the reason some of the prices are coming in sky high.

I am waiting until the prices go live on the internet to see if discounts will be given. I doubt it because I bet DH holidays will be in line with thomas cook prices, thats what thomson did with portland and early after the thomson and portland prices came out thomson was often cheaper.

The price rises I blame on the full affect of the mergers now, TC and thomson have a practically got a monopoly on the market and it will be easy for them to fix prices at higher levels. I think it will all back fire because I see people going into travels agents and on line and saying when they see the prices they can keep them no holiday next year for us.

I haven't done DIY for good number of years now but next year I could well look at doing one again if prices don't drop or I will stay at home, I refuse paying the prices I was quoted today and seeing I am looking to out of school hols next year I was expecting to get a lower price compared to this year and not more expensive with on 4 of us going instead of 5 of us of going.

I think we need a poll asking how many will book next years holiday at the prices quoted today.
