hi

ive stayed at both aegean dream last yr and letoonia about 3 yrs ago and theres no competition , the letoonia wins hands down in every way. the food is far superior in letoonia, the views in letoonia much nicer, the drink wins by a mile as they do some international brands and aegean do only cheap brands, letoonia is also a 24 hr all inc. theres a lot more space in letoonia as its more a little village, so has its own shops, restaurant choice better in letoonia. lots more pools in letoonia, entertainment far better in letoonia, lots more snacks and goodies in letoonia, its set in big grounds, so theres a little train that goes past to take up around. the only thing aegean wins is that you can walk into town whereas letoonia is a bit too far out , but you can get catch letoonias free boat to fethiye or a taxi.

the only thing i would say about letoonia is if you dont like walking too much opt for a hotel room as some of the bungalows are up a lot of stairs.

if you decide to go to turguetreis then go to the la blanche its next door to aegean and looked far nicer. we found the manager of aegean extremely rude when we had to complain as there was no childrens food. we had loads of problems at aegean and would never recommend it to anyone, restaurant is like a school canteen , grab a table quick or wait ages grr , food below standard too. lots of complaining guests whilst we were there too, this is definitely geared up more for families than letoonia where you can escape.

turgutreis as a resort is a lot dearer to eat out to than fethiye

sadly i had to go through a solicitor over the aegean dream hotel, i did do a report on all the problems i had in the complaints section

if you want to know anything else about either hotels let me know

just a thought have you thought about lykia world this is better than letoonia too, and has adult only pools and restaurant although only 4-5* full board + wine ,beer & soft drinks are including with meals and most of the day til about 9.30 pm, the food is superior, views wonderful, really is worth looking at

Now you've got me looking at somewhere else ! :rofl

That is fab info thank you. We had looked at Olu deniz about 5 years ago but wasn't too sure. I think we chose the hotels in Turgetreis because of the walk in but as we'd plan to do lots of trips it may not be that bad. Went to the Fuerteventura Princess this last february and that was a small village type resort with small bungalows and loved it.

I did start at the Letoonia but some reviewers moaned about the rooms being outdated and steps. To be honest, dont mind steps at all and love scenery so may look back at the others now!

Will be back on line later and may pm :cheers

be warned some of the rooms in aegean were causing lots of complaints due to the air c on not working and terrible views, our room was in the new area and was ok, but nothing wonderful

our room in the hotel in letoonia was fine and bigger than aegean

but lykia is far superior in all ways so i highly recommend you look at that, we got married there 4 yrs ago and are returning in oct, this is the 1st time ive returned to a hotel, its the best we have stayed in with letoonia 2nd. ive put photos in the gallery on here of all 3 of these hotels. lykia can be booked as a diy and package so lots of options, we found monarch hotels the cheapest

good luck

We stayed at The ADR last August and had a lovely time . I think it was late May you stayed Karen wasnt it . They do tend to have more available over the high season when there are watersports on offer included in your A/I and more food available . I wouldnt say the food was the greatest I've had in turkey but it was fine . We didnt like the tables inside . As Karen says , a bit bright and unwelcoming but the tables outside with candles along the walkway were lovely if you could get one .

We had a free upgrade via the thomsons shop for a sea view room in the new block . They are quite contempory and maybe a bit cheaply done if you know what I mean but they are bright and airy and the views fabulous . worth mentioning though that our balcony was a little odd in that it wasnt a bar type that you could see through . It was some odd sort of perspex stuff so if you sat down it restricted your view a bit . Not sure if they were all like that in the new block . Was yours Karen ??
The position right next to the sea is wonderful .I don't think we have stayed at a hotel so close .

Now the space issue . The main pool area is fairly small and cramped for the size of hotel and is quite noisy with lots going on. (we like that but i appreciate not everyone does ). There are also 2 hardwood jetty's for sunbathing . We didnt use them because things were a bit too peaceful for us there but they looked lovely .
There is another pool with waterslides but you are likely to get covered in water is you sit there . Plenty of sports going on and you wouldnt be bored .

La Blanch looked more upmarket but there didnt appear to be as many English there if that is an issue for you . They don't have the jetties there and the beach is made up of a breakwater type of set up thats looks nice but kind of odd . I would guess the water there is shallow and good for children and you can sunbathe on the concreate wall/breakwater set up.

We really enjoyed a stroll along the walkway/prom that takes you into Turgetreis (10-15 mins) one way or past some small hotels /restuarants in the other direction. I agree with Karen if you want to eat or drink out it seemed more expensive than the Dalaman region.

There is also an excellent market in Turgetreis for all your fake designer gear one day a week which is only 10 minutes walk away.

Entertainment in both was repeated in various languages.

We still prefer the Olu Deniz region as it's more scenic but to be fair if you have never been to Turkey before you would like the scenary here too . It's just different .

yes lyn our balcony was the same but so tiny it fitted 2 chairs at a squash and no room to move, so poor ellie didnt have a balcony chair to sit on lol. we stayed last week in may and 1st week in june

agree with lyn olu deniz area is far nicer for scenery. havent you stayed in the belcekiz beach hotel in olu deniz thats supposed to be lovely too, but dont want to confuse you any more lol

aegean versas letoonia = 10 nil to letoonia lol :tup

Presto - if you look at Lykia, make sure you look at the Residence, which is the hotel part, rather than the Village, which is more for families. Both parts do have adult only pools, which would be good for you. You do actually get a bottle of wine with your dinner, not by the glass, as most AI hotels do and I really liked the white wine there.

Yes Karen loved the Belcekiz but you wont get sea view rooms there .

I suppose in reality it's all down to price too . I would love to stay at letoonia or Lykia but I've never found either at a decent price high season.

Iv'e gazed at Letoonia from the boats out of fethiye and it does look stuning with all the little secluded sunbathing areas along it's coatline , the little waterside going into the sea etc .

i know you will get to either 1 or both 1 day lyn :rofl , once the kids have flown the nest, my older 2 have now gone and ive only got ellie to take so makes a big difference in price , get her free most of the time as shes only 9

let us know where you end up booking presto
