There is another forum topic which talks about spending money in Turkey.
Having just come back from Icmeler (next door to Marmaris) just take a £100 or so in Turkish Lira and use your card in the ATMs for the best exchange rate. We found the HSBC ATMs accepted our cashpoint, credit and debit cards with no problems and there are a few in Marmaris. The cashpoint or debit card rate is best as credit cards charge extra for withdrawing cash!
We took the Boat trip from Icmeler to Turtle Beach and then on to the mud baths at Dalyan with pick up from and return to our apartment. We were picked up at 8-45 and returned at 7-30pm - all included apart from drinks on the boat was £15 (and they quite happily accepted Sterling). My OH took the trip to Ephysus whilst I was over in Rhodes and she thoroughly enjoyed it BUT it is a very long day. She was picked up at the apartment at 6-30am and returned approximately 9pm - although all meals were provided.
The main expense is if you hire a car, the car is typically £20 - £25 a day (depending on length of hire) but fuel last week worked out at roughly £1-35 to £1-40 a litre!!!!! So if you want to visit Ephysus or Pammakule, take the coach trip option!!!
It was our first time in Turkey but definitely won't be the last. (I will get my report typed up soon - honest!!)
Enjoy
