there is no such thing as a free holiday at the end of the day..
Your right, i will. As they say nothing in life is free
a very well done to you ...i can see your halo glowing now..
When you cancelled your holiday did you get a refund or just rebook it for a different date? Have you already paid for it and forgotten? Strange they would send tickets if you had not paid.
No just cancelled and lost my deposit... Yea it is strange and I was very curious hence posting here, I've just rang the Airline and they have our seats booked but will ring the travel agency later. Most airlines do not issue tickets unless it paid for
Did you get a writen acknowledgement of the cancellation from your agent? I wonder if they forget to pass it on to the tour operator and have now landed themselves with an invoice for the balance - in which case they may try it on with you later!
I have written confirmation. My agent is also the tour operator as this is a package holiday and after ringing last night they've confirmed holiday. Really don't know what to do!
It's very odd that you didn't get an invoice for the balance a couple of months ago if you're the lead address for the tickets.
Whatever happens, do not let go of the original of the cancellation confirmation - if anyone wants it only let them have a photocopy.
No mate my "personal reasons" are now ok, If you where in my shoes what would you do now, would you go or just ignore? And if you did go, could they realise their mistake mid-holiday and demand the money and leave you stranded.
Really don't know what to do!
Don't blame you. Neither would I! Perhaps it would help if you thought it through like this. Would you want to go on the holiday at the full price next Tuesday, or are you just wondering whether to go because it would be a cheapie? If the former, then I would go but be prepared to pay the balance on the spot if the error is discovered. On the other hand, I would find it extremely embarrassing if I were caught out trying to take a holiday I hadn't paid for, as I know it's not right and honest. But I don't think my husband would bother at all about this. He'd probably say it was their fault and you're quite justified in taking the holiday, particularly if they're a large company.
Oh dear, I'm not helping much, and in danger of waffling. But I think it's probably down to your own sense of right and wrong - over to you !!!! I'm sitting firmly on the fence and I really don't know what I would do!
Your reply sums up exactly how i'm feeling and they are a very large company.
How about getting your partner to call the holiday company to ask a 'general' question about the booking - if it is cancelled on their system they will say so!?
ok i will. Cheers
Remember, tickets mean nothing these days for travel - you can turn up to the airport with your reference number written in biro on the back of your hands and be ok! Its all about what happens when that reference number goes into the computer..
That's a very good point gr123 and on that note I would just forget it as a system error could account for tickets being sent.
