i don't think,agean were a rip off,for next year.i agree,they weren't as cheap,as for this year,but definately not a rip off.
so for an extra 5kg,of luggage allowance,it has cost an extra £57,with A1.to me an extra 5kg,is not worth paying,an extra £57 for,or even £37,as i think,our flights,were £150 & £170,for june & september.times that by 3,for each flight,as there are 3 of us,it's a big difference.£171 & £111.no way would i pay this,for an extra 5kg.

If i was to book aegean now i would have to pay an extra £52 each for the flights which would have brought it to £252 when i went to look at the aegean they were £200 each plus £12 for the extra 5kg each way so the flight would have been £212, not so bad really but there was 4 of us so i wanted to make sure i could get us all booked soon as the flights came out. Next year they will prbably go up again with aegean so i will keep an eye on it but will probably still book with A1 as I have used them for a few years now and seem pretty good

Whats the legroom like on Aegean please?

our boot,

Aegean aren't an airline, they sell seats on charter flights. They use Onur Air. You'll find lots of information on the dedicated Onur Air thread and our What Aircraft? guide.

Thanks Darren - just flown back BMI (charter) Dalaman to Manchester and the comfort was fantastic - so much room! Any idea how to book this again as we were just lucky booking through an agent. I believe Exclusive Escapes charter their aircraft - any idea if any other companies do?

That would have been a bmi charter on one of their A320's with 30" seat pitch. As it's a charter, it's luck of the draw if you end up with them or not. There's normally a bmi charter on a saturday afternoon from Manchester, presumably that's the one you were on? The Onur Air flights tend to be in the morning. Custon flights, Regal and Aegean have been known to use bmi.

Hi yes, it's a Saturday morning flight now - changed earlier this year. The aircraft had business class section up front (really roomy) and my guess it was more than 30 inch pitch in the standard seats. I really can't take pot luck as a 29 inch pitch would cripple us - we need more room than that so budget airlines are out. Wish I knew how to find out who has chartered BMI craft for next year.......... :think

our boot,

28" seat pitch is standard across the charter industry. 29/30" is more the norm across the scheduled airlines on short - medium haul. The business class seats are 34" seat pitch and not that roomy considering the cost of them! Bmi long haul business class is 80" with lie-flat sleeper seats! Trouble is, you get what you pay for when it comes to flights. You can always look at pre-booking extra legroom seating.

Hello our boot.

I know that this will sound strange, but the Saturday BMI flights often appear on the Monarch Website. Put in your dates and see what comes up. http://www.monarch.co.uk they can also be booked on http://www.avro.co.uk

Hope that this helps.

Luddendunturk - Thanks - had a look at both sites but all Monarch flights showing. :(

Hello again our boot,

In that case have a look at Cyprus Turkish Airlines (KTHY), their seat pitch in economy is 32". They fly MAN to DLM and flights come out up to 11 months in advance.

http://www.kthy.net/kthyen/

They are showing departures uti 5/6/10 at the moment for just £127 return incl. taxes, so if you can do DIY, there is a bargain to be had.

The only slight draw-back are the return flight times as they are a Turkish Airline.

Hope that this helps.

Hi Luddendenturk - that's great thanks. the one I looked at is flight YK662/661 on a 737-800 so are all of their fleet 32 pitch?
Right about the return times though - yuk 08:30 departure coming back! Works out around £200 each. Can't find anywhere to tell me about baggage allowance - any ideas?

KTHY luggage allowance is 25kgs. Have a look on their website under Services at the top of the page, then Passenger Services, then Baggage Info.

Thanks again - found it now. The airline doesn't get great reviews on the northern cyprus forum but then I guess people mostly post when they have something to complain about or something exceptionally good - I'm just happy about the 32ins and cost - so many thanks for the info - ;)

Hi Again, Does anyone know how much it is to reserve specific seats with Cyprus Turkish airlines? Concerned we will be split up on return journey if passengers already onboard from Cyprus when we are picked up in Dalaman. Looking on their website, seems you can only reserve seats once booked.
Reply
our boot,

I don't think you can reserve seating in economy before checking-in, unless you are a business class passenger.

anyone used KTHY to DLM
flights from manchester for 2 adults 1 child is coming in at just under £400 , decent flight times aswell.
25kgs also
quick search doesn't praise them all that well.

would be saving over £600 compared to glasgow.

seems too good to be true

alba-lad,

KTHY aren't a bad airline, they're pretty punctual and offer a basic but reliable service. They've had a few problems recently with a pilots strike, but that's been resolved I beleive. They offer plenty of room on their aircraft and given the savings, it's certainlty worth giving them a go.
