Hi Beachbum, I believe the rooms they call the apartments are near to the beach, still just by the hotel complex though.
Yes the Omar Khayam is directly linked - it's next door to the Dar Khayam, and you can walk between the two - there are some good water slides there - if you cross the road (still in the hotel complex) at the other side of the indoor pool and follow the path along (by the shisha cafe on the corner) you will come to 2 pools one of which has the water slides in them. Apparently you can get free drinks there too with your Dar K wristband (something we didnt know first time we were there!)
We're not big sea swimmers so cant really help, there have been people in the sea before when we've been though. There's quite a few watersports available on the beach too.
Dunno about the internet facilities and havent been on the desert trip sorry, the camel trip is a good laugh though.
We love Dar Khayam, it will be really busy when you go, people tend to either love it or hate it, and forget it's only a 3 star! It's great for kids and the animation team are fab.
Hope you enjoy

I'm aware it will be busy, we are used to these type of hotels in peak season due to having 2 lads of 15 & 12. I find they don't get bored and meet new friends easily (leaving mum & dad to 'try' and relax for a couple of weeks)
Thanks for the info...
Thank you for the info, we fly out Sept 20th to the DK
vikki
We will still be there as we are going for 2 weeks
I'm sure we'll see you around then Joy. Have you been before?
Not been before, this will be our first visit to Tunisia

I think we are going slightly and would ask you to please try and keep on the - Dar Khayam - Hammamet topic.
I have started a topic for general chit chat about all things Tunisian (or not) as long as it is kept friendly and good natured.

Sorry Kiltman, I think we are all just getting a bit excited
Please feel free to be excited on the new Idle talk and other tête-à-tête chit chat topic
I would be very grateful for any help as this will be our first time to Tunisia.
Thank you
Angela.
Hi,i just wondered if anyone knows if there are many steps at the dar khayam hotel as it says in the brochure that it is unsuitable for people with walking difficulties, although i have seen no mention of these in any reviews.
vikki
Hi Vikki,thank you very much
We are a party of 13 going on the 25th july 2010 to the Dar khyam for 2 weeks. We have a 16month old baby in the party and wondered if theres anywhere we can buy nappies, we are taking plenty mind you, its just in case. And Is there anything outside the hotel? Bars etc? And do we need to take any insect repellent?
