Hi Daz
Have stayed at the Sweet Memories before, but not at the Evalena. The Evalena seems in a better position as it's right on the front over looking the sea, whereas Sweet Memories is on the top road. Depends what you want really and how long you'll be staying in the apartments.
We were looking at booking the Evalena this year but decided against it for two factors. One was that we thought it looked a bit stuck out on it's own and the other was the pool and area around didn't seem that good, listening to someone who had stayed there. But the views are lovely.
I liked the location of Sweet Memories as it was quieter at night and in some apartments (the one we had was a side sea view) you could see the sea one way and the other way was the church of Ayios Ilias which sits up on a rocky crag on the other side, lovely lit up at night. The apartments were clean and modern, well equipped and comfortable. They leave you a welcome pack in the apartment, which you can keep all of and pay for, or keep some and pay for, etc. or take it all back and be charged nothing. Can be a godsend if you arrive late at night or something.
Pool area was nice, although fairly small. The entertainment we didn't watch, but heard it was good. There is a small shop in the reception as well which is handy, although there are other shops nearby too.
We're off to the Brilliant apartments this year. Whatever you decide, I am sure you'll love Cyprus and Protaras, it's one of the most welcoming countries I've ever been to.
Anything I can maybe help with, just ask.
Kerry

last time i was in protaras i used thsilivi travel on the main strip, nice clean yaris, will full insurance no access
Between the two I would opt for the Evalena, it's across the road from the Rising Star where we stayed and a five min ute walk to the strip and right by the beach.Sweet Memories is on the main road and is much further to walk. The Evalena will deffo be quieter throught he night as it's on the beach away from the road and the strip but each to there own.
We also used Tsilivi car hire, last year we got a Yaris, this year we got a jeep ( which was really bumpy and too cold on a night time!) but nowt you could blame the company for.

Just got back from Rising Star apartments in Protaras which were very good. The Evalena was next door and does overlook the sea. Didn't go into the hotel just walked past as there is a path which runs along coast to Pernera area. Beautiful location as you get a lovely sea breeze tho was sometimes quite windy! Nice if you don't like too much heat as its getting warmer every day. The main strip is a bit tacky. The Sweet Memories is near the Red Indian Restaurant I think so is on the main road. Would recommend the restaurant though
! Plenty of bars to choose from anywhere you go in Protaras. Only 2 clubs and they are nowhere near Evalena. The only noisy night was Sat night when they had a nightclub in one of the hotels down the coast but it wasn't noisy any other night. Very quiet to be honest. Pool area seemed nice at Evalena from what we could see. Waterpark really good day out and use Mr John taxi service as he is the cheapest we thought. He will pick up from your hotel.
