disneybrit,

Tea, coffee and orange squash are included with the meal, served afterwards. All other drinks are chargable unless you are in premium. The only milk on the aircraft are the little cartons of UHT for putting in tea / coffee. You'll have to bring your own, bearing in mind security restrictions on liquids.

were travelling to cancun on sept 9th TOM662, weve upgraded our seats to premier class and know we can prebook our seats six weeks before, but was wondering if its actually worth doing? how much does it cost? and whats the best seats to book near a window?

thanks

Hi just wondering if the check in is 3 hours to cozumel even though we are travelling in premium seats we've a taxi to book to take us to airport

thanks

You can arrive slightly more or less than 3 hours, sometimes in the summer though Gatwick can be a nightmare and have streams of customers zig zagging outside queuing to get inside to check in! Especially on peak days such as Friday,Saturday, Sunday.

Premium isn't that bad as it has its own dedicated check in but sometimes the problem is just getting inside the terminal and the BAA staff physically cannot let anymore people in for health and safety reasons when it is crowded.

Well guys its time for me to come home, had a great time here in Cancun you can not beat it! Sadly we all have to come home and I thought it was going to be easy get it all over with and get home but it turns out where 5 hours delayed! To top it off the reps in resort had no idea we were delayed and only knew when we told them!

Turns out we wont be getting back to the uk till about Midday and it could be even longer delay if the crews hours are exceeded.

Then to top it all off after being promised the First Choice 767 on the way home they have yet again changed it to the short haul 767 which is a further disappointment. This time though they don't have a reason for changing the plane they told us there was no reason for changing it they just like cramming us on I suppose.

So all in all I have had a fantastic holiday here in Cancun and at the Riu who can not help you enough but when it comes to the tour operator they have let me down big style. Thomson have gone down in my gradings now. I know delays are unavoidable at times but to change a aircraft for no reason and send us home in short haul class when we were promised in writing the long haul aircraft is a shame and its bigger shame all the FCA 767's are still flying from what I can see so there can not be any problems.
Anyway,
Going to get ready for the airport now guys ill fill you in on the flight when I get back.

after reading z.j.c's post I am wondering is it usual to change planes and what are the differences between the first choice short haul and long haul planes - we will be in premium so would this be affected if switched?

also could BY-TOM-FCA-AMM give me any idea when the menu's etc for sept/oct will be released?

many thanks

deana :cheers

hey deana,
The difference is less leg room I think its about 29'30". You still get the TV's so it isn't too bad its just bad if you are a big person because your crammed in. Also the seats are slightly narrower.
Premium is affected there are no premium seats its all short haul config.

There are indeed problems with one of the FC aircraft, swapping you onto an ex-TOM is not for no reason. I know a couple of the crew on your flight they have been waiting around at the airport on duty since around 7am this morning. Your inbound flight should be ok as the flight has now left as far as i'm aware and your inbound crew are resting in the hotel so crew duty hours should not impact on your return flight.

Thomson or First Choice do not do any of this on purpose, this delay and change of aircraft will have cost them quite a bit of money, I'm not in work at the moment so have limited access to find out what is wrong with which aircraft but can assure you, there is something wrong with one of the ex-FC birds. Its a shame that both of your flights where effected by these problems. The alternative would be to delay you by a day or longer or even put you on a 757, and the remainder of passengers on alternative flights which has happened in the past within First Choice.

Outbound:-

Beef Stroganoff with sugar snap peas and potato's
Mediterreanean Chicken roasted veg and peppers
Totellini with mushrooms and truffle oil

inbound-

let me get back to you! can't remember at the moment.

BY-TOM-FCA-AMM Thank you for that and the inbound once you remember as I really hate peppers and the daft Aldo Zilli seems to think all options & starters should have peppers in them and on 4 different premium flights I've ended up with no starter or main meal (even been offered the flight attendants meals who have always been fantastic), p.s. do you know about the films yet?

Thanks for that - I am so sorry that this has happened to you because I know when things go wrong with flights it can put a complete downer on your holiday (I've been in tears a couple of times at check-in desks) so I hope you're not delayed too much longer and you are home safe and sound soon.

BY-TOM-AMM-FCA,
Thanks for this information the reps just rang Thomson headoffice and they told them there was no problems with any of the FCA aircraft and that the changed of aircraft had no reason it was purely for a delay purpose.

They said we should arrive back home at about 12 now which isn't too bad really.
I do understand that delays can happen out of no where and I am not that bothered about the delay I just wanted a clear reason for aircraft change.

Thanks for that information on the crew glad they are resting last time I came to Cancun they stayed here in the Riu.

I am aware they don't do it on a purpose it would just have been nice not for them to promise it when they can not deliver it. I feel for the premium class passengers who only got £80 refund.

Anyway thanks BY-TOM-AMM-FCA for your help I so hope we get off Cancun as soon its making me more depressed sat around waiting.

Does anyone know whats wrong the ex-FCA plane because when the reps rang head office he mentioned something about needing extra capacity.
Thanks

z.j.c,

I hope you get back safe and well so you can let us know how Cancun was.

xsunseasandx,

Seating is personal preference so it's whatever you like really; front of rear of the cabin. All seats apart from row 1 offer the same seat pitch and facilities. If you're wanting a window seats (seat A or G), avoid row 9 as there isn't a window on that row (former First Coice Boeing 767-300/ER). If you want a specific seat or a window at least, then it's worth pre-booking them to avoid dissapointment. If you aren't fussed, then it's not worth it. Further details and costs are on Thomsons website. You'll find lots more aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide.

Hi guys,

Couple of questions!

Me and my partner are going to Cancun on 16th November, flying BHX-MAN-CUN (13 hours!!) on flight TOM374. Is it too early to know whether this will be operated by a Thomson 763 or ex FCA 763?

Secondly, we've got prebooked seats together already as we're on a platinum package, however, my boyfriend is quite a tall guy and I'm wondering whether we can book specific seats or if its worth booking some extra leg room seats - do you know how much this is and how far in advance can you book it? Also, with extra legroom seats do you still get seat back IFE?

Anyone's experience with this would be a great help. Though I think he'd be ok with the 33" legroom, its just the length of the flight making me wonder!
Reply
ManchesterMark,

I haven't got the winter aircraft schedule as yet, but I would anticipate a former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. You can pre-book specific seats up to 6 weeks prior to your departure date. You'll find more details on Thomsons website. Seat pitch is generous at 33", but if he's tall, you may want to look at extra legroom seating. It's about £80 from memory on longhaul. Extra legroom seats have a personal screen that folds out of the armrest. This means the seats are slightly narrower because of the wider armrest. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered previously but can someone please tell me how many rows of premium seats there are on ex FCA planes and ex Thomsonfly planes. Thanks
Reply
Sunaddict,

There's 9 rows of premium seats on ex-FCA 763's (63 seats) and 5 rows on the ex-TOM (31 seats). There's only one ex-TOM 763 (G-OBYJ) currently in the long haul configuration. The other 6 are in short haul (328Y).
