My parents asked me to find them a boating holiday for their 47th wedding anniversary as theyd had their honeymoon on a boat on the Norfolk Broads, but after reminding them that they were probably not quite up to the job of jumping on and off boats mooring up etc, i suggested a cottage somewhere near water.
Well it took me a while to find something within 2 weeks that was available, a decent price and near water, took me 3days infact but i found this gem. Mendham Mill, http://www.mendham.viviti.com/
It farther south than they wanted but they have actually never been to this area, and so after showing them , the "Nest!" and the pictures on the site, I rang and spoke to a most helpful chap called James who booked it for me.
I mentioned that it was their anniversary and he emailed me some addresses of a bespoke cake maker in town and a hand made chocolate shop both of whom wouold deliver to the Mill.
So i ordered a cake to be delivered this evening, and emailed James who said he would take a photo of them when he knocked on with the cake!! My mum rang and said not only had he done that, but he was a classical pianist and came in and played a serenade on the Grand piano that is actually in the cottage my parents are hiring!
This chap cannot do enough for his guests, he took them for a tour around and on sunday hes going to moor up a row boat at the bottom of the steps on tier patio and row them around the estate!!!
When my parents get back i will post a proper detailed report with the lnks to the cake and chocolate shop if i may!
Loks and sounds fabulous hilda . Will add that to my favourites for when I'm next looking into a cottage break.
Today i recieved an email form the owners , with two photos of my parents recieveing the cake done by the Humble cake company!!! brilliant customer service!!
The owner sent yet more pictures via email of my parents taking a trip ( with the owner at the tiller) down the river around the mill!!
WHat a wonderful place it is, and customer service is out of this world!!
Thanks Hilda. I've added the Mill to our hotel reviews here
Thankyou, they have come back in absolute Awe of the place and they are not easily so wonderstruck!
Mendham Mill has a new website. It seems I don't have sufficient posts to be able to give its details here. However, google Mendham Mill and you'll find it easily. The web address given by Hilda at the start of the thread no longer works.
