Does anyone know if there is a map of the off site car parks? I am trying to find a car park not too far away from the Travelodge at the airport. Thanks.
There's a map showing the location of some airport car parks, but not all of them on Manchester Airports website. Maps of the off-site ones will be the particular opertors websites.
Darren
Chapel House Parking is probably your nearest to the Travelodge
We have been using them for a few years now and no problems

Does any one know if the new smoking area, airside in terminal 2 has opened yet? Just trying to work out how many patches I need!
Heard about the new scanner at Manchester airport? OMG.

I heard about it on the radio this morning. It's only on trial in T2 at the moment, more details on Manchester Airports website. I'm all for improvements in security measures although it's debatable whether this is a step too far?

Seems some people are making a big deal about it but personally I think it's a great idea. I certainly haven't got the body beautiful but no one is going to recognise you from the X ray anyway.
......there will be some questions asked if they do!!but no one is going to recognise you from the X ray anyway.
It seems a bit intrusive but if it prevents nutters with explosives getting on my plane, I guess we go along with it.
The people manning the screens must have a right laugh....and don't anybody tell me they don't!!
Will I be able to get mosquito repellent, after sun and those mosquito wrist bands at the airport please. I haven't had the chance to get to town to get these things, so just wondered if I could get them there instead. Thanks
Marlou,
Manchester airport defends 'naked' scanner
Manchester airport officials have defended its controversial new scanner which produces naked images of passengers, saying it will speed up security.
The airport's head of customer service Sarah Barrett added that passengers would find the scanner preferable to a traditional body search.
The scanner, which was introduced this week, will show up breast enlargements, body piercings and show outlines of passengers' genitals.
The introduction of the machine, which costs £80,000, means that passengers will not have to take off their coats, shoes or belts.
"Most passengers do not like the ‘pat down' service," said Barrett. "The scanner completely takes away the need to undress."
She added that the images would be seen by one officer in a remote location, were not pornographic and could not be stored or captured.
Passengers have the right to refuse to be scanned by the new machine, at Manchester's Terminal 2.
The Department of Transport will monitor the scheme for a year before deciding whether to install similar scanners on a permanent basis.
The scanners have been trialled at Heathrow and are gradually being rolled out in the US.

Hopefully it will also show up drugs being smuggled inside peoples bodies!
Thanks Angie

This is what I'd like to know too! We're going on a 10 hr flight and one of our party is a bit of an addict so will probably smoke a whole pack before boarding the plane lol.

It wouldn't bother me having this done, but I was wondering in ladies would it also show up internal sanitary wear??

Not that I'm aware of and i've yet to hear of where / how they are going to provide the facilities. The only designated smoking areas are outside of the airport terminal buildings.
