chrissfhl,

BA2167 is still operated by a Boeing 777-236/ER with a 3-3-3 configuration in world traveller (economy). It's becomming the norm for airlines to use 3-4-3 on the T7, for example Air France and Emirates.

we are booked on BA flights Heathrow to Mumbai, could you tell me what the plane and seat configuration is please - flight nos. BA199 21.25 on 20th january and returning on BA138 02.45 on 19th february.

As i have got Disabled Assistance booked with them, do BA plan and pre-book our seats or can i book them online myself (usually fly with Kingfisher). And is the checked-in luggage allowance 23 kgs one suitcase each and 5 kgs hand luggage please?

Sorry for so many questions but got 3 weeks to go and like to have all this information in my head.

Silver Angel,

LHR-BOM (BA199): Boeing 777-200/ER
BOM-LHR (BA138): Boeing 747-400

Click on the aircraft types for a seating plan. Baggage details are listed on BA's website. You can select your seats by checking-in online 24 hours before your flight departs. If you want to select your seat prior to that, it's £20 per person. More details on BA's website.

at the risk of being boring and repeating others I'm thinking of booking B.A Newecastle to ATLANTA Mar 15 - Apr 1 ,they have the best prices & times at the moment. My wife is not too keen due to the chance of a strike .
But I'm wanting to book this week. I know its in the lap of the gods but would like some advice
Thanks, Chris

nogbert,

Strike while the iron is hot I would say! If the tickets (prices) are good, I would book them. The strike may never happen. If it's called, you can try and make arrangements to get around it.

Go for it Chris. My April flight with BA has already gone up since I booked it a few weeks ago. You have over two months before you are due to fly and that is plenty of time for them to have sorted themelves out.

Just endured twolong haul sectors wih BA - Gatwick -Orlando and Chicago to Heathrow.

B777 on both flights. Service on board very average, food not so average. Indeed on the Chicago to Heathrow sector had to return the food as it was still partly frozen!!

IFE took over 1 hour on the outbound service to be reset (to make it work) and inbound from Chicago several rows had faulty IFE. Most miffed since last time I went from states to UK BA offered a hot breakfast - nowadays its a danish pastry :que

Quite frrankly I have had enough of this carrier and its alternatives from for me from now on and I travel a lot.......

any ideas ???

nogbert,

I'd take BA over AF personally. AF's european services I've always found fine but I was unimpressed with their long haul service. We have Air France and KLM topics for further information.

To be honest nogbert, KLM/AF are not much better in my opinion...safe your money for other things and go BA if the times and route suite you. I am afraid its just the sign of the times now - most carriers do not offer much in terms of service and comfort - especially if you do it a lot.

The strike at BA may or may not happen but if it does and you are affected it is worth bearing in mind the hastle it may cause.

I often choose BA for short haul flights, but would only choose to fly long haul with them if I could stretch finances to go Club class. But BA are no worse than most of the other European carriers. I'm not impressed with KLM or AF and I usually suffer from hip problems if I travel long haul on Lufthansa's cramped 747's. I won't say what I think to Virgin other than they are the pits. As Nivsy says it's sign of the times. On my last flight with Malaysia (rated a 5*airline) the meals were almost inedible.
Having said that if I had the choice between BA, KLM and AF with the BA fare being £80 less I would choose BA..

We are travelling in 5 weeks time to Mumbai with BA from Manchester, I keep checking on the flight and is the fact that there still seems to availability an indication that the flight may not be too full. If anyone can help I would be grateful.

ilovegoa,

We aren't permitted to give out that sort of information, reasons here. Because you now have to pay extra to pre-allocate seating, you'll find many leave it until they can check-in online the day before and choose their seats for free. I wouldn't assume the flight isn't full based on current reserved seating.

ali781,

LGW-SSH-LGW (BA2055/4) are operated by a Boeing 777-200/ER. You'll find a seating plan on Seat Guru. Seat back IFE is available throughout. You'll find IFE information on BA's website.

We're reluctantly thinking of booking flights with the dreaded BA to St Lucia and would be grateful if you (Dazbo?) could please tell us which plane we will be flying on. Understand they use 777's, but seat configuration of 3 Class is different to 4 Class. Flights are:- BA 2159 on 27.11.10, returning on BA2158 on 11.12.10.

Also we're thinking of booking World Traveller Plus on the way back. Is it worth an extra £270 for both of us, and have you any recommendations of seats to go for or avoid. We've looked at SeatGuru.

Many thanks in advance.

roseweb,

That's correct, BA use a Boeing 777-200/ER to ANU. I used to watch it arrive from Jolly Beach! It's a 3 class aircraft rather than 4 (no First Class seating). I posted a link to the seating plan on Seat Guru in my reply to ali781 above. WT+ is fine if you want extra room as BA economy is only 31". Economy isn't bad, but not great. Seating is always personal preference.
