I think you will probably have had enough after 20mins - the temperature was about - 5c. They had warm clothes for you to put on but I certainly wasn't paying, I was trying to get away from the ice! Daughter had a quick nosey upstairs but left before paying :rofl

Can't quite believe what I have done - I think I need a lie down!!! Just booked to go back to HSB on 28 Jan - hating the weather here and after our holiday in Sharm in November not being so great, we decided to take the plunge and go and celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary in a hotel we know we really like!!!!!

Never thought I would be back there before you go at Easter Lyn :rofl

Thats brilliant Pat . Did you get a good deal ?

You do know that means you've probably been 4 times before I've even managed to get back there . You definately deserve the most swanky room now . :tup

Price kept going up and down with Thomas Cook today. Took the plunge at £532 each for the week from Glasgow with good flight times. Was looking for as close to £500 each as I could get, and TC were the cheapest out of all those I checked. Paid more in November 08, and about the same to Sunrise Island a couple of months ago. So this will be the third visit to HSB, and 4th to Sharm in just over a year!!!!! I shall definitely be lookng for a room at the extension and free late check out!!!

I asked hubby if he would like a city break to Prague or somewhere for our anniversary but he said he would prefer somewhere hot so HSB here we come again! :rofl Will ask them to prepare for your arrival at Easter Lyn!!!!

Really pleased today - I emailed HSB with a room request, and got a reply quickly so all the internet connections must be back up. So, I am getting a free upgrade to a deluxe room in the new part of the hotel, and they are delivering a cake to our room on our wedding anniversary on 2 Feb. :rofl Brilliant service :rofl - I can see us going back for a fourth time.....

Brilliant Pat. Save some cake for me . :)

I think thats what they've upgraded me to wasnt it :think .Will have to dig out their emails but I thought they were all delux rooms over that side .

Hi Lyn- yes, I think they are all classed as deluxe on the new side: that's what they will be offering you, but you don't actually want it! :D When we were at the Sunrise our room was the closest to the sea, with a fabulous view - if you get similar at the HSB I am sure you will love to wake up to the view every morning.

Ehab said he would do his best to put us in the room we had last time (it was nice and close to the restaurant and not anywhere near the runway(!)) but if not it will be a similar room. Anyway they are "going to spare no efforts" to get us the room we like and wish us un "unforgettable anniversary" while we are there. :rofl

I really wish we had gone to HSB last November instead of the Sunrise Island View, but you live and learn. I am unwilling to give other hotels a try now after that experience! Ehab was thanking me for my loyalty to HSB, and I think it will probably be the only hotel for me now in Sharm.

Their service is really, really good - just hope there are no problems with the pools etc after the recent storms....

I know we have been offered it but I wont decide until nearer the time Pat and I will let Dave decide . I know Dave would prefer to be nearer the sea and he like watching the divers so if they can upgrade us to their very best sea view rooms I think he would prefer that but its highly likely that we will want to use the pool and restaurants on the new side so it will be a bit of a trek for us in that respect . Well more so for me because I will be the towel lady. I know the lads will put them out for us but the control freak in me wont trust them so I will have to put our own down too :rofl

I'm sure everything will be back to normal by the time you get there . The hot sun wil make sure of that .

I prefer the pools, restuarant and bars on the new side, but we do spend time at the old side too - best of both worlds. I will have breakfast at the old side if I am going snorkelling, and we like to sit in the Sunset Bar and watch the sea so we will do that too. Both sides have different things going for them in my opinion and we are happy to wander between the two. Get your towels at the new side Lyn - dont carry them over. :rofl We always have an extra two towels - tip to the guy means we have an extra one each, and we still actually have a towel card in our possession for some reason since the last visit! ;)

I do like my 2 towels on each bed Pat. do you think he will put 2 each down for us . :think

I will still have to get up and go over there just to make sure he's done it or was suddenly ill one morning . Can't take the risk . :rofl

I have never got the guy to put towels down Lyn! In November and the last week in June we always got the beds we wanted and we are not real early birds - usually about 8 - 8.15am. Put them down before strolling for breakfast, but we did always come right back to the beds for yet another snooze after we had eaten.

We had no problems getting two towels each and we had the girls with us - so we had 8 altogether :yikes seems we were the only people doing this. :rofl

You won't be on your own now Pat because I will be doing it too :)

can anyone help. We stayed at HSB in October 2008, been to Egypt for the past few years but went to Nabq Bay Oct 09 to Oriental Resort as a change. We have booked again to go back to HSB Oct 10 with some friends who have never been to Egypt before and are a little apprehensive about egypt. When we went in 08 the new part was just opening. We have booked to stay in the old side. Having bookd the holiday with Thomas Cook how do I go about using Hilton Honours Card? Do I show it upon arrival or am i better off emailing them beforehand. Cannot decide whether to stick with old side room or try for upgrade. We prefer the pool but friends prefer beach so new side a fair walk away from beach. Any help appreciated cheers :que :tup

Have you already got a card sutty ? Assuming you have you wont be able to use it to get points unless you have booked direct with the hilton . But you may be able to get some freebies such as an upgrade or late check out room for free . I have a silver card because I've gained points on mine with a previous booking and also collect points doing on-line surveys , not sure what card Pat has but it certainly wont do any harm to email them in advance to see if you are entitled to anything, your chances should be good as you have both the card and are repeat guests :) . As it's a thomas cook booking I would leave it to 2/3 weeks before you go as they wont have record of your booking before then.

Im still deciding on what side too , new side was still being built the last time we went . I booked direct this time and theyve given me a free upgrade to the new side but we had a sea view room the first time we went and loved it .

Hi Sutty

I will be with Thomas Cook when I go next week, but as a repeat visitor I emailed in advance regarding rooms, so regardless of the room which I would be getting as a TC customer I am guaranteed the new side. I have an Honors card (only blue and with no points on it because I have never booked direct with Hilton) and this gets me a free late check out room: I always present it at checkin, and then when I ask for a late check out they know I have a card and it's free -quite expensive otherwise. Also get beer/soft drinks for the mini bar whereas it's normally only filled with water.

Depends what is most important you regarding rooms - the sea is important to me but because the rooms are so much nicer on the new side in my opinion, that's the side I would want to stay at. I personally don't have a problem with the walk to the beach from there.
