Well done Travel Republic for the speedy, hassle free, refund of the Globespan flights.

is it easier to get in touch with travel republic here than emailing them direct?
Emailed them nearly 2 weeks ago with a query about my booking and still not heard from them.If steved1 is out there,my query is that I have booked 2 rooms for two couples and have given the correct 2 surnames, checking my booking I see we all have the same surname on the booking form.
will this be a problem when we check in as I know we have to hand in our passport.
The other question was, we are going to solemar in albufeira and beverages are included, what does this cover.
I know my questions may seem trivial but it would be nice to receive some answers
Thank you in anticipation

Hi Jeanie, when you say that you emailed them, did you raise this as an query through the 'manage my booking' facility on the TR website? Or via a separate email address? Whenever I've used the 'manage my booking' route I've never waited more than a few days for a response.

Hi SMa
yes I did go through manage my booking, put it through as an incorrect name query as they only give you so many options to choose from. If steved doesn,t answer will try emailing again.Don,t want to phone unless I really have to

Hi again SMa
Just been into manage my booking and they have amended the names,Thought I would get an email from them telling me they had done this but as long as I know the names are now correct i,m happy.
No answer to my second query but no doubt we will find this out when we get to the hotel.
cheers

This was what I found out for Jeanie

Hi Jeanie, I have spoken to the Customer Services Manager and they got really behind with the bad weather recently. It is not just getting into work, but issues like Easyjet cancelling so many flights. We have to process all the refunds on these and Easyjet currently has a problem with their website for volume users like ourselves, which stops us looking up a booking. We have to phone them, which as you can imagine, is not much fun, or a very quick process!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we should have nearly caught up by Weds/Thu this week!

£1m FlyGlobespan refunds by Travel Republic

Travel Republic has completed all refunds or re-bookings to a value of around £1 million for customers hit by the collapse of FlyGlobespan in December.

Managing director Kane Pirie said: "The value of the bookings involved was circa £1 million but we are delighted to have sorted out the refunds promptly.

"There is no excuse for customers having to wait for extended periods of time in these circumstances. They are distressed enough as it is and want to sort their new arrangements out without delay."

Passengers who booked directly with FlyGlobespan or through other agents generally had no financial protection and may well lose the cost of their flight.

Pirie added: "We offer all customers a simple money back promise in our Total Financial Protection scheme. There is no charge for this."

He said customers were "over the moon".

"Many thought they had lost the money and were delighted to swiftly receive a full refund," he said.

Hi, recently booked flights for this september with travel republic. I am taking my children and my mother (73y) to visit my sister in rhodes.I received email confirmation saying we were flying with viking airlines. I was very excited till i read all the bad reviews on this site i am now really worried.
Wondering if to cancel + go with easyjet.
Has anyone got any good news for viking airlines, any recent news, please :(

I booked my hotel last summer through TR and had no problems whatsoever and would recommend them, my only gripe with them is that they have failed to 'price match' a hotel i've booked for this summer. I done everything I was supposed to do according to their website but they haven't resposnded to my emails (i sent two, then give up) Its only a tenner difference so i'm not too fussed but its a bit annoying to be ignored twice!

HI Zonecrew,

Have you tried sending a pm to Steved1? I'm sure he'll be able to get it sorted for you. He has helped me on a number of occasions and is very customer orientated. Give him a go you've nothing to lose and £10 to gain ;)

I have just read the post assuring everyone TR cover all parts of your holiday booked with them, its a pity that wasnt the case back in September '08 when me and my husband lost our holiday due the collapse of XL 24hrs before we were due to fly. We got the flight money back from the CAA but the hotel money was lost (the majority of the cost of the holiday). The CC wouldnt pay up either so dont be complacent thinking you will be covered. Our Silver Wedding Anniversary celebration was ruined.

Hi Steve!

I wrote an email to info@rockinsurance.com. Please read it here. Can you give me an answer?

Dear Sir,

I want to buy a holiday from your website (travelrepublic.co.uk) - Dominican Republic (Bavaro), Vik Arena Blanca Hotel, 1-15 September 2010 (2 persons, one double).
Please tell me if your insurance covers the event of a hurricane in that period (standard insurance, single trip, £28.54, section Catastrophe).
I want to know also that the insurance must be purchased along with the trip or I can buy it later.

Thank you in anticipation!
