API is a requirement for Turkey, but the information can be collated at check-in. It is advised however to provide information prior to travelling. Travel agents / airlines will advise how they are administering it.
Darren
it all varies between different airlines, but it is not a problem to fill in, on the easy jet site it remembers your details so its less hassel the next time
Yes, I noticed that, all we had to do this time was confirm the information was correct.
As far as i have been informed from the 1st April 2010 api is required for all turkish airports and you are advised to do it at least seven days before check in and as it is internet based must be done from a computer .If you do not have a computer you are advised to go to an internet cafe or public library. .Should not be a problem with ht members as they have computers .They may do it at check in but if they are to busy and it has not been done they can refuse to let you fly.
So what happens if, for example, you are elderly, have no access to a computer and even if you could get to a public library or internet cafe, wouldn't have a clue what to do next? There must be some people in those situations, surely?
blondiescot,
Thanks for that, Darren - obviously I have a computer, but just wondered what you would do under those circumstances. I'm flying to Dalaman at the end of May, but we haven't been asked for any API details as yet...
Blondiescot,I have not been asked to supply my API details for my March and May holiday but after reading about it on HT i just filled the form in on Thomson and Thomas Cook website.
But what if you're not flying with either of those (or am I just being thick?)
As i already said as of the first of April it becomes mandatory no matter who you are flying with .Check out the Thomas Cook website .

Yes, I have checked it, thank you - I'm flying with Onur Air, but can't find anything relating to API from their website.
I emailed Aegean at the beginning of the week about API and received a reply very quickly.
The reply said they are aware of API and are working on their website to allow this to be done. Then said they would be back in touch with instructions on how to log on and enter the appropriate information. Think if you could just keep an eye on their website information will appear soon.
Your tour operator will advise you of the procedure they are operating. You won't find anything on OHY's website as it's the chartering company who'll be sorting it out. As morh mentions, operators are aware of the situation and have been for some time so they are working on it. They should really have it sorted by now but given it's a seasonal destination for some, probably have left it until now. You'll need to contact whoever you booked with or keep an eye out on their website.

Thanks, morh and Darren - I've also emailed the company I booked through to see what they've got to say, so will keep my eyes open for more information!
Monarch have advised me that they will collect these details at check in.
Hi, we are flying to Dalaman in August from Bournemouth. I have contacted Airflights who I bought my flights from and they say that Onur air who we are flying with have no requirement for API. Does any one know if this is actually the case? I have visited the Onur air site and there does not appear to be an English language option.
For anyone flying with Aegean, they are now accepting API details on their website. If you click on View Booking, you can enter all the required information there. Very quick and simple - completed mine yesterday, so that's one less thing to worry about!
Click on View Booking at the top of the page.
It will ask for ref(invoice number) enter this but leave off the dash and any following Numbers.
Enter lead name but only put in the surname and no initial.
Then enter passenger details as requested.
It is quite simple and you will need everyones passport at hand who are on the booking.
Updates can be made at a later date if needed.

Sorry for being thick but what's API?
API is Advanced Passenger Information, which is now required for security reasons before you travel. There is a thread about it in the General Holiday Enquiries section which explains a bit more. Different airlines appear to be doing it differently, so you need to check with whoever you happen to be flying with, but most have websites set up where you can fill in all the necessary information - your name, date of birth, passport number, expiry date and place of issue.
