We haven't stayed there but did consider it 2 years ago when we eventually opted for the Socrates appartments in Stalis. We did pass the Koni Village once or twice during our stay. It wasn't in a bad location. I'd say about a 5-10 min walk into the main strip.

If you haven't yet booked, I would strongly recommend you take a look at the Socrates studios and apartments which is in an excellent location and is a fab little complex with a large pool. There are many reviews on this site including ours.
Enjoy Stalis wherever you decide!

5-10 mins walk is fine for me.

Iv not seen the Socrates studios as an option but Ill have a look now.

The reason I chose Koni was because it was in our price range for Aug time and seemed to have good veiws (although is out of town)

Hi Kaz,
I think we went with Thomson and it was reasonably priced. We had to go in August because of the school hols too. This is a picture I took of the pool

The Koni village, although closer to the middle of things, seemed a bit isolated. The road from the Socrates had restaurants/tavernas/bars/shops all along it.
As I said, we've never stayed at Koni village but it does sound very good in the brochure.

Just to second Shirley's opinion of the Socrates11. It's in a great location & a lovely friendly complex. My review is also in the review section on here.

Thank you,

I have just looked on Thompson and its coming up at £700 (near enough) for 2 weeks each in August

Koni is £530 each for 2 weeks in August

It does seem very nice and I dont want to seem stingy but with work offering me only 4 days work now instead of 5 money is tight.

We have not booked yet although if we leave it closer to the time hopefully we can stay somewhere really nice for a last min price.

Do you have an tips on places to visit? We plan to hire a motorbike

Thank you again

Hi
We have stayed at the Koni a couple of times, last time about 3 years ago. The complex was very clean and well maintained. There are 2 pools, the big one and a smaller one which was used mainly by adults. It is about 10 min walk into stalis, you have to cross the main road but there are underpasses if you feel unsure about crossing the road. On both occaisions we had a studio on 3rd floor with lovely views of the sea in the distance. There is a steep hill to the complex and to some of the apartments, but you get used to it.
I would certainly return to the Koni, I dont think you will go wrong for the price.

We've been to Crete twice (in 1999 and 2004) and both times we stayed at Koni.

We thoroughly enjoyed both stays there, although I think we perhaps (maybe just) preferred
our first stay at Koni when it was a much smaller place, before it's expansion.
We found Koni to be very clean and friendly and it also has two outdoor pools.

Koni is on a hill, which could affect people with mobility problems.
The beach and main part of town is on the other side of a busy road, but there
is an underpass if you don't feel confident enough to cross over the road.

During both our visits we visited many wonderful places in Crete, as well as doing a
day drip to the island of Santorini.
We walked the Samaria Gorge (longest gorge in Europe at 18km) and visited places
like Spinalonga (former leper colony island), Lasithi Plian (up in the hills behind Stalis),
Agios Nikolaos, Rethymnon, Chania, Heraklion and of course The Palace of Knossos.

During both visits we had a rented car for the duration of our stay.
