Well we tried Cuba last year and had a fantastic time BUT I don't actually think it was because it was Cuba more because the hotel was good, with good entertainment, beautiful beaches and we met great people and had a laugh. We have no regrets trying somewhere new but probably wouldn't go back.
We love Goa for being Goa and it will always have a special place in our hearts... for the same reasons (too many to list) as everyone else on here, and wouldn't think twice about returning.... 3 more sleeps!
Thanks to you Mods and Admin,he or she was accident waiting to happen for the last 5 months
Glynis HT Admin wrote:Ok I for one have had enough. Spaldy banned.
Wow!! Glynis - you've got b***s
Is this casualty of 'free-er' speech on a permanent - or, limited ban? Chances are the 'ban' is fluid
Alan
Glynis will likely ban me now for voicing my views, so be it.
Why oh why do people always hit back with 'oh well now I'll be banned for saying such and such' ?????
Spaldy was warned on numerous occasions about his attitude towards other members in some of his posts.
Yes I'm sure he was helpful. Yes I'm sure lots of people benefited from his knowledge. But, this didn't give him carte blanche to be rude towards other members. We've had numerous complaints about Spaldy's attitude and unfortunately have lost members because of this.
The subject is now closed and we are
Thank you.
So let's see, you run a topic 'Is It All Over' then people get upset when people like Spaldy post edgy remarks. Then all of a sudden you get the 'gang' who will say anything but negative about Goa up in arms. What about freedom of speech? It's sad when you can't post opinions even on a silly little forum like this. Who cares in reality..... banning is stupid.
Big Neil wrote:It's sad when you can't post opinions even on a silly little forum like this
If the forum is soo silly then why are you still here???
It's been mentioned who would post in response to the ban and both names have now been confirmed.
Opinions are one thing down right rudeness to members is another.
I think you're being a little childish now. Did I say you had to leave? Did I say you weren't welcome? I was responding to your quote of
So by banning Spaldy, you are effectively saying that you can't say anything negative about Goa without being banned from this site.So new people joining this forum will think it's the world's greatest holiday area and there is nothing wrong here.Freedom of speech and all that.....
I don't need someone constantly telling me that the Goan people aren't my friends and are just using me for their own ends. I am a grown up, I have known these people over 15 years, I can tell the difference between true friends and otherwise, I have found both there.
Spaldy has found his 'new home' he loves Thailand, as you do Neil, fantastic - be happy there.
Gramps I am sure there is nothing anyone could tell you about Goa that you don't already know - I dont know but imagine you accept the good with the bad.
I like coming here, I love the photos, holiday reports etc good and bad, if I wanted to visit Thailand I would be looking at the Thailand forum
It wasn't Spaldy's opinions that caused unrest on the forum it was his rudeness/abruptness/disrespect to other members.
I hope that finally now everyone understands as to why the member was banned.

I don't think you caused any trouble. I have been to Goa 9 times since 2005 and I love the mess, the lack of infrastructure, the annoying taxi drivers, the dogs wandering around, in fact, I love all the bad things as much as I love all the good things, LONG LIVE GOA
My post wasn't malicious and I am sorry for the trouble it has caused

I have just had to remove a post from this topic by Spaldy under the new username of Payback. It was rude, and hugely abusive. The language was awful. What an intelligent and well balanced indvidual he is. I would have left it here if it weren't to spare the feelings of Glynis and the members he insulted. Its strange really that somebody who couldn't careless about this forum or Goa is kicking up such a fuss. That he doesn't have the intelligence to offer a good argument to defend himself, just abuse?
bad language....in my opinion people who use foul language do it becauce they don,t have the intelligence to express themselves in any other way.good riddance i say

I did read the post from Payback, and informed admin. It is a shame that Sarah had to remove it, because it was extremly rude and abusive. It would have most certainaly shown spaldy in their true colours.
mmmmmm, not wanting to go over the ground of whether the banning was valid or not, this thread I started was a genuine question as to how people feel about Goa now, mostly aimed at those that have been before and know what it used to be like and why we fell in love with the place. Some of the posts have been excellent and informative and there has been some excellent reasoned debate, and this forum should definitely be the place for warts and all reports as the place is definitely not the paradise some make it out to be. Saying that, it is special and will always hold some special place in my heart. Will I return? well never say never, but I'm veering on the probably not option.
As for the banning- anyone who actually read the post before it was removed should be in no doubt that the decision was a correct one.
Well, back on track. Will be going back for the 11th time soon, and am as excited as I was the first time, so it's not all over for me.
