hi, first time to egypt few questions.
injections do we need any [staying in sharm]
travel adaptor plug what kind do i need?
are mossies a problem?
sun bathing topless is this a no no ?
staying at sultan gardens any ideas what sort of food to expect ?
thanks in advance
1) Here is a thread on injections, yes they are recommended, and i would have them they are free for most surgerys, heres a thread that i started, very useful information here....... http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=30364
2) Wherever there is water they will have lots of mossies, keep your balcony door closed at night when the lights are on, insect repellant will be needed.
3) Some people do go topless, but it is not in their culture/religion to see naked ladies all over. It is frowned upon, but saying this at the hotel i always go to they have plenty of topless sunbathers on the sunbeds. Some hotels have written confirmation no topless, so check with your hotel.
4) Plugs, we buy ours in resort as only 50p from supermarkets, other than that we bought the african adapter from boots, some hotels that have old buildings use a different sockets to newer parts, that is why i bought them there.
Hope that helps
Michelle
Mossies can be a problem but keep windows and doors shut at night and repellent should work we tend to use plug in ones in the room
Topless ---You will find that most hotels don't bother but I feel sorry for the staff who's religion says they should not see a naked woman except their wife -- some of the younger ones walk round with their eyes popping out of their head though got to say the biggest culprits are the overweight middle aged Russian ladies who all tend to wear thongs so it's not a pretty sight either You will usually find their hubbies in the bar by 9;30 waiting for it to open at 10
plugs we just take a couple of Southern European ones we had lying around but they are very cheap in resort
another question. we are staying sharks bay[sultan gardens] and really want to visit pyramids i know we are nowhere near them but is there any excursions that could take us there and if so any ideas how much?
also any other must see/do,s when we are in egypt?thanks xx
if you really want to loose 3-4 days of your holiday ask the travel company you are going with as they usually organise two types
the expensive on where you FLY to Cairo
the cheaper one where you go by BUS (3-4am start)
You would probably be best waiting and when you take a holiday in Hurgarda because it's only a couple of hours by bus from there
Hi have never taken an internal flight from Hurghada but coach trips definately take longer than a couple of hours! Luxor takes about 4 hours and Cairo about 6.
I have done them both, believe me you wont want to do the coach, exhausting, to pay an extra £100 plane all the time, only an hour.
From Sharm that is not hurghada
You have 2 options for a visit to Cairo from Sharm, the first is the more expensive but IMO the much preferred option, you fly from Sharm to Cairo and visit the Pyramids, museum etc and then fly back to Sharm, this is a long day trip, you get picked up at your hotel at approx 04:30 - 05:30 and then get back to your hotel about 21:00.
You are picked up at hotel then taken to the airport and board your flight (Egyptair) to Cairo you then get met at the airport in Cairo by an Egyptologist who acts as your guide for the day before flying back to Sharm and dropped of at your hotel.
The second option is much cheaper by road on a bus, this trip is loooong, the bus takes approx 6-7 hours each way from Sharm to Cairo and then you have the time in Cairo before heading back, the total time is about 19hrs, again you are escorted all day by a guide / Egyptologist
You can book these trips from your rep at the hotel, the hotels often organise trips for their guests and there are also cheaper travel agents who sell the trips in Sharm, if it was me I would check out the prices at a local agent in Sharm.
There is an existing topic dedicated to trips / excursions from Sharm
