I note in an earlier post mention of "Tandem Parascending" insurance. Please be aware that this insurance will not cover you for the Paragliding that takes place in OD - parascending is when you are towed in to the air behind a boat/car, parachuting is when you jump out of an aircraft and paragliding is when you run off a mountain.
Cheers,
Ralph
Sorry typing error ( or brain error) have insurance that covers Tandem Pargliding , this includes not only myself but also my wife! however there is no chance of her having a go, going into a cool swimming pool is her idea of dangerous sports!

Only 4 weeks to go
I think you need to be of average weight to go paragliding. If your friend's wife is over 20 stone she's at risk of breaking an ankle or leg when landing - and supposing she fell on someone?! They land very close to the beach! I saw a paraglider oncle land in the water (quite a way out he was too) so imagine if she landed where all the swimmers were! That sort of weight thundering down on you could cause serious injury.

There are definitely weight restrictions which apply to those type of sports - parachuting, parascending, paragliding. Both my daughter and I were weighed before we did skydives, and she was also weighed before she went parascending in Spain. There are usually notices telling you what the maximum weight limit is - but most reputable places will weigh you to check first before they allow you to take part. Safety should be paramount, after all.
If my wife had seen the article in the paper on Saturday ( the morning we arrived home ) about the pensioner stuck on the mountain after crashing she probably would not have let me do it!

I've just got insurance with Columbus Direct that will cover me and my partner for paragliding and it was very resonably priced. I want to book before we go, does anyone know the best time of day to do it?
Hopefully an expert will come along and correct me if I am wrong (never having done it before )
Good luck with your flight, i can promise you it will be the best thing you have ever done with your clothes on
Alan
We launched from the 1900m take off area ( the top ) as there is also another launch point at 1800m. My flight lasted only 23 minutes but it was brilliant!!
So if you're a heavier person.....go during the day when the winds are up...otherwise any time of day.
