Sun001,
Welcome onboard
I'm afraid you won't be able to cancel as it's in Thomas Cooks terms and conditions that aircraft can be changed. You might find the last couple of pages of this thread useful as you aren't the only one in this situation. I wouldn't say they do it a lot, but this isn't the first time it's happened.
Darren
Thank you for the warm welcome
I have been reading through the back few pages, and am beginning to build a picture now..
I wasn't sure if there was anything at all that was worth trying with the travel agent - i.e. do you get any discount, upgraded seats at a cheaper price etc - but I guess that there are alot of people who are probably wanting the same.
So it looks like this maintenance work has been pushed from start of May to end of May due to the ash problems if I read it correctly?
It doesn't help that the hotel we're due to stay in is brand new and according to reviews is not really operating as it should be by now...
you will see from the recent posts here that you are not alone, we have just been in a similar situation, however ours was a complete change of airline, where as yours I take it is a change of aircraft but same airline
In the first instance go in and see your travel agent to discuss your options, we were very lucky to have a customer care manager in store who didnt fob us off at the first hurdle, although we did have to go through 3 days worth of staff to finally get to speak with him directly
you will be told its within terms and conditions as we were, however keep at it as we did, and depending on when you booked and the circumstances around it you may just find an amicable agreement, above all though dont lose your cool as they will not respond to you helpfully
I work in customer care/memberships and its never nice to be on the receiving end of a heated complaint when its your employer that has put you in the firing line
Hope you get sorted
Karen
I read your posts, glad you got everything sorted. I will speak to the travel agent calmly most definately. When I discuss the plane change with them, should I mention that I'm also concerned about hotel not being fully ready or just stick to the plane issue (apologies not meaning to go off topic here but just trying to establish best approach)...
Sorry but you won't be able to cancel because of this change of aircraft. They have it well covered in their terms and conditions.
As Darren said there are a few more posts about the same change of aircraft.
I wouldn't mention the hotel as that is subjective. Is it the new Secrets by any chance?
Hi, it is this hotel yes.. the reviews are not exactly complimentary! I was going to call them about this alone to raise my concerns and then this flight situation has arisen. Thanks for the advise appreciated. I have read the last 5 pages but will probably need to go back much further.
You are best following the advise of some of the regular members on here who are experienced and knowledgable regarding these matters,
I am only a new member myself who had a similar problem but have been lucky enough to get mine sorted, the advise and support you receive here will be great,
I can only say that in my experience, keeping your cool and telling whomever you speak to at your travel shop that you know its not their fault will go along way in them wanting to try and help you
and go that extra mile to assist you in some way
Yea some of the reviews haven't been very good. It seems to have opened before it was properly ready.
Sunaddict, I was going to call them about the hotel and now this has happened on top of it which is abit worrying! Will see what travel agent says though..
So it looks like this maintenance work has been pushed from start of May to end of May due to the ash problems if I read it correctly?
This is correct for your situation.
Can anyone confirm that the Thomas Cook flights (TCX505K/L) will be with a A330-200 aircraft and if yes, would that have premium seats at the front?
Thanks!
LGW-PVK-LGW (TCX505K/L) are indeed scheduled to be operated by an Airbus A330-200. The aircraft are back in their original 354 seats configuration. Although the premium cabin is still there, they are sold as extra legroom seats rather than premium, ie you get 5" extra seat pitch but none of the extras of premium. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).
Darren
Is it common for airlines to change the scheduled aircrafts and also do you have a link with this 354 seat configuration? If not, do you know if the `premium` seats are 2-3-2?
Thank you again
This aircraft type is scheduled to operate the route from May to October. As mentioned above, you'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide including cabin details, aircraft photos and links to seat plans. Seats in the main cabins are configured 3-3-3 apart from the rear few rows where the fuselage narrows, these are 2-3-2. The forward cabin is 2-3-2. Bear in mind there are now an extra 4 rows of seats (2 in the centre cabin, 2 in the rear) over the long haul aircraft.
Darren
Its just me being nosey but can you tell me what reg the TCX174K that left MAN-CCC this morning.
Thanks as always
Candyboo,
===============================
We have to make changes to the aircraft on which you are travelling. This is to ensure the safety of our aircraft as they have maintenance requirements. As a result seat back televisions will no longer be provided, however in-flight entertainment will be shown on the drop down screens above and the seat pitch will now be 29 inches.
===============================
Last year when they did this they sub contracted to Iberworld. Any idea what aircraft will be used on this particular flight this year?
You'll find lots of information on the changes over the last couple of pages, particularly MikeBravo's post. It's the same aircraft type; Airbus A330-200, but in a higher density configuration, ie more seats.
Darren
Thanks for the info.
I was wondering if you would be able to confirm what aircraft will be operating TCX15K from Glasgow to Cancun on 17th May? I am slightly concerned reading a lot of posts saying that their plane has been changed for one with 29" legroom. We have paid for extra legroom seats - if the aircraft is changed is it likely that TC will honour our booking?
Thanks!
B
