Hi guys
We are staying All Inclusive at The Lighthouse Hotel in Ortakent nr Bodrum for one week starting 20th May.
www . lighthousebodrum . com (I'm not allowed to post a linky yet)
I love to go see as much as possible when on holiday but we are pretty broke and OH wants a nice rest so he has set me a limit of only THREE day trips!! ...and on top of that, he doesn't want to travel for hours & hours to see stuff.
So... does anyone have any recommendations on things we MUST go see??
We like: Culture, archaeology, ancient ruins, architecture, wildlife, amazing views, food
We don't like: shopping/haggling for souvenirs, swimming/watersports. We don't want to rent a car or go to Rhodes.
We are both fit & able bodied so capable of walking about, although I can't swim very well!
I'm having difficulty finding exactly where we are staying on a map, to be able to compare where other places are. I've heard that the Sultanye Thermal Baths are amazing, and The ancient city of Caunos in Dalyan, although I don't know how easy they are to get to.
A guided tour that fits in lots of things would be great. Would it be better to book online or wait until we get there to choose?
Thanks in advance!
Katie xx
No tips from anyone?
The two othr site you have mentioned would also include a fair bit of travelling so it dpends on how far you do want to go.
You could do a jeep safari, that would atke you out into the countryside and is a fun day out. If you don't want to end up in water fights getting completely soaked make sure you ask for a dry tour.
Other than that if you like exploring then you could get the bus into Bodrum and get any number of other buses aorund the Peninsula, there are some lovely places to see and the bus rides are through some nice scenery. the longest bus ride would be about 30-40 minutes so not tto much travelling involved there.
I hope that has given you a few ideas.

I didn't realise there would be that much to see around Bodrum - that sounds promising for short ad-hoc trips.
Ephesus sounds amazing - I think he could be persuaded because it looks well worth the journey!
I don't think we'll book anything in advance - just play it by ear once we get there. I love the sound of the Jeep Safari because that was really good fun in Bali, there were no water fights (but we were caught in a monsoon!)
No, don't book anything in advance, don't book anything with your holiday rep either, it is much better to book with local travel agents in Ortakent or Bodrum.
Ooh thanks for that tip We've always booked with our holiday rep in the past (although I'm not sure if we will have one this time as I think we just booked flights & accom without a tour company)
