My teenage son wants to learn how to scuba dive on holiday in Turkey. Does anyone have any information about how he should go about this whilst we are in Marmaris ?
He is an excellent swimmer but...Is it safe ?
You may even find that they do introductory sessions in your hotel pool .

Go for a PADI centre as well.
Many thanks.
Yes there is a dive centre in Marmaris. Saw their boat out several times. If you had asked the question at the start of the month I would have taken more notice as I have just returned. I am sure their sign said PADI
Our friend who was on holiday in Marmaris with us last year went diving for the first time,he loved it and got his PADI licence as well before comming home,a lot cheaper than this country!.He did it with the yellow paradise diving boat opp the bazzar, there is an English girl named Steph who works on the boat and can explain everything to you.
I use European Sea Sports everytime I'm in the Marmaris / Icmeler area of Turkey. I know the owners and it's an excellent dive centre. As lynwestie mentions, they used to be called European Dive Centre but changed name and dive sites in 2007 and now operate out of Defneli, a picturesque area towards Datca, about 45 minutes drive from Marmaris. I did my Rescue Diver qualifications with EDC about 8 years ago and found their training to be excellent.

Like all sports, there's inherant risk involved. However, with good training and experience, scuba diving is a safe sport. You might find the following post useful: Diving in Icmeler.

My daughter (14) went diving with them last week and thoroughly enjoyed it.
