House of fraser have lot's of nice ones .http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/on/demandware.store/Sites-hof-Site/default/Search-Show?q=maxi%20dress
Ok some are a b it above my price range but I still think I would look stupid in one as I don't really have a great figure , as in size 16 , loads of lumps , fat bingo wings (endless list really) I may be better off with something a little more expensive . Jersey would be no good on me at all .would need something a little more skimming and a material that falls nicely .
I saw a lady in tesco yesterday .She was a similar shape to me and had a puffy ,tiered type flowery one on .It was so NOT a good look on her .
well ladies have to say that i have never wore a maxi dress, but after reading all these posts have decided to get one,i've ordered one from jane norman sorry dont know how to do a link but its a white halter neck with a rim of what looks like foil £40 it does not say what length being 5ft 3in it will probably be to long but i can always send it back or wear high wedges but then il be taller than dh
yes angie thats the one hope the length is ok really dont know how i will look or feel in a long dress never wore one apart from wedding dress
Caz I think it looks lovely....I too hope the length is OK for you..I am sure you will look a million dollars in it.
That is lovely Caz it'll be all shimmery - oooooooooooooo Ta wit ta woooo
well ladies dress arrived and it fits yippee feel quite strange wearing a long dress but it does look nice algarve here i come
It took me a couple of hours to get used to wearing mine Caz, but then it was fine.
Great news that it fits Caz, I am sure you will soon get used to wearing it.
All the ones I have tried on in the past made me look preggers but this one is gorgeous. She bought it from a local designer shop ( they cut out the tags so u never know what designer it is) for £25. I saw the exact same one in Hose of Frazer for £90, bargain.
I've had mine hemmed as it was an inch or so too long. If I wear a heel with it, the heel catches in the back but I can wear wedges or flat sandals with no probs. However, with the temps in Turkey at the moment, I've more or less decided to leave it at home. If it was made of light cotton it would be ok but it's a sort of thin stretchy material
A snip at £18, this one has short sleeves and a gypsy type top, empire line with a long floaty bottom ( the dress, not me ), lots of big, purple flowers on it, feel a bit 'princessy' in it !
juby - it sounds ver similar to the one my mum wore to my engagement party, except it was a deep green colour, and more of a courtelle material. When it went out of fashion we all used to say it looked like a pair of curtains - not that I'm saying yours does
Aw Helen, mine looks a bit like a nighty !! hides a multitude of sins, crackin' !
Its a wee bit long but with heels or wedges it will be fine.
When i get on the computer i will post a link.
From New Look, pink, blue, white and sparkley, was £30.
Helen
I haven't bought one ............... i have bought five that will be going on holiday with me
I bought one but as I'm only 5ft 2 I've had to have 5 inches cut off the bottom!!
Ive just bought 2 one from h&m as they only do a size 6 that actually fits me, and one I sent back it was petite range im 5ft 2, and size 6 and it was still to long and massive, il wait til I get over to spain and buy some there I already own 3 so Im not rushing spanish sizes tend to fit me better as I think alot of spanish girls / woman tend to be small in height.
I bought one from E-bay last week- advertised as a size 10 petite. I'm 5'2 and the length was great, came to just on the ankle BUT it was so loose that it would have fitted me if I was 6 months pregnant my niece WHO IS pregnant is going to try it but I know now that it will be too short for her.
I've got 3 nice ones I bought last summer, and they are still going strong. I'm hoping they'll stretch a bit longer around my baby bump.
