Sangi good evening, I have been doing some more delving and have come across Apartmentos Maria Del Carmen which are situated in c/Borbollon/5-29620.
Do you know the area ? I quite like the look of them. Have you noticed them on your travels.
Sorry to be pestering you but I want to put this to bed asap.
Ta ,
Des.
I have noticed them on my travels, but to be honest I didn't know what they were called.
For anybody who knows the area...if you walk to Torremolinos from La Carihuela by the side of the main coastal road (Avda Carlota Allesandri) and in my case it was from the Pez Espada, you pass in front of the Repsol garage and after walking a little further you cross over the road at the top of the hill with the Hotel Las Palomas on the corner...these apartments are down by the side of the garage, in what looks like a cul de sac.
They are fairly new and I've had a nosey around, and they are getting some good reviews
Location, well if we use the hotel Las Palomas as a "marker", you're getting near the end of la Carihuela beach and near the headland.
Using this map...Number 11 is the hotel Las Palomas and the petrol station is marked just before it.
I've sent you a PM .

I am quite drawn by these apts, and will try to finalise my flights today. Is the nearest railway station Torremolinos, we usually travel from the airport by train.
Thank you once again.
Des.
It will be different from what we're used to as we won't have a pool but I like the fact that it's small and the locals are known to call there as the drinks are cheap.
Sanji, looking forward to chatting with you again about one of your fave places
Is the nearest railway station Torremolinos,
Yeah, make it Torre, you have the option of a taxi or if you're feeling fit you can walk it (all down hill).

Great news another one with the Carihuela virus.
but this year we've chosen the small but lovely Cabella, right on the front.
It's the Cabello and it is a meeting point for the locals, I thought I'd better let you know that it isn't on the promenade, it's situated in the square opposite the fountain and unless you get one of the rooms at the front and at the far end or a top floor room, you might be facing the infant school, but I'm sure that won't be any hardship because the area is "open".
Just looking at those pics is great ... we were in that square when Spain played in the semi final it was fab !...Just cant wait...booked to go back May and Sept now...the virus is spreading
must try to add some pics to the forum myself
Jo xx
Just to let you know the Cabello has it's own website:-
The photo I put in the gallery was taken just in front of that fountain. Although it's not on the promenade, if I'm not mistaken, the beach is just across the way- less than a minute's walk
Thanks for the link for their website Glynis

Morning Shirley
That's correct and if you get a good room, you can see the beach from the window of the room.
With you saying "it's right on the front" I just wanted to point out that it's not on the promenade.

booked to go back May and Sept now...
Hi Jo
So you took the plunge then.?....lucky you.
I think it's 8 weeks before I return...16th Sept.
When I look at those photos it always throws me into the dumps because there are one or two places in Carihuela where I really wanted to live, but THE PLACE was a house half-way up that street, (on the left looking at the photo) sandwiched between two shops and opposite Pepe Rios cafe......a proper tall Spanish house and not a concrete shoebox.
At the time, the prices of property in Spain had gone through the roof and the bottom of the construction industry hadn't fallen through....property in La Carihuela was very desirable and still is.
I used to sit outside opposite this house having a drink in Pepe Rios and dream of what could be.
With the exchange rate at that time it was approx £225,000 and I could have got approx £160,000 for my house in South Yorkshire, so to buy this house would have used our savings and the house needed quite a few thousands spending on it.
If I took my house darn sarf, I could double the price of £160,000 and could have easily afforded it.
We were coming up to retirement so we couldn't just spend, spend, spend, and I begged and pleaded, but my hubby wouldn't do it. Some lucky sod is living there now.
If you're down around this area, give Pepe Rios a try, he's very popular...... he's not "cheap as chips" but the food is lovely, and he's a lovely bloke.

We tried to have a meal there Sanji, but the night we called it was packed out.
I was just going to comment Helen, that I thought we nearly ate there. I'm sure we'll give it a go next April. Looking forward to looking at 'your' house too Sanji. Do you think you'll ever live in La carihuela now or has the opportunity gone?
Yes Sanji i booked the house for Sept 11 (gosh i wish i was going in a few weeks!).Did you tell your friend about it?
We will try Pepe Rios when we go next year. When we were there a few weeks ago we only discovered that end of La Carihuela in the last few days.At first we always seemed to end up in the area from the Tobbaco shop down to La Mojitos for some reason (you know how it is the first time you go somewhere) When we finally ventured further down we saw how lovely it was down that end.
Its a long way off for us till next May yet but there is so much we didnt get to do or see...i can not wait.

Been searching in vain for a 2 bedroom apartment ( we are 2 adults and 3 children) but struggling. Found the Buenasol apartments, are they near enough to La Carihuela? The seem nearer to Benalmadena marina but if La C" is 10 minutes walk they could do ????
any suggestions appreciated.
Are you looking for a package deal or willing to book a private rental and flights independantly?
Jo x
Hi, cant remember the last package deal we bought, maybe a travel republic/alpha rooms type package of flight and apartment - i normally look for cheap flights and then accomodation seperate.
I have been searching myself the last few weeks and came across lots of private rentals...unfortunately almost all are already booked for Oct hols this year.
These 3 seem available .. i have not used these myself just came across adverts so can not say what they are like.
