Chilly, I am amazed that you even know what a dishwasher is, let alone how to empty one.
Is this a new domesticated Chilly, even saw some pics of you in the garden very close to a cooking devise, assumed you did not know it was a BBQ

Hi.
Does anyone know how long it takes, to walk from Santana Beach Resort to Newtons in Candolim, or is it a tuktuk, or
taxi ride away.
Thanks
The Preacher.

its a 15-20 minute walk between the two but there is a shop that sells everything (like Arkwrights in Open All Hours) a lot closer called Helens, on the same side as Newtons. Its by the chemist and Ninos Nook.

Thanks your an angel
Agree, Silver Angel! Helen's Stores have been hit hard by Newtons so I always get some stuff there when I can. It would be sad to see all the small stores close because of Newtons.
Does anyone know if there is a place we can buy a sofa bed (at a reasonable price)The settee (if thats what you can call it
) in our apartment, this is in Candolim, is really not comfy,Thought if we had a sofa bed it would be used more as you all know the beds are awful.
We looked for a sofa bed about five years ago and could only find rubbish ones, so we had cane sofa's made that are long and wide enough to sleep on.
No need to put up with a hard bed, as you can now buy good quality sprung mattresses or padded mattress toppers in Goa but we use fitted sheets from the UK as they are much nicer

Thanks meagain for your reply.Did you get them made in goa or elsewhere.also about the sheets I will certainly be getting them here before I go.No hurry though Im not out there till Mar: next year.
Sorry meagain but that was really a bad senior moment I just had,
I should have asked if you got them made in Candolim or elsewhere. Were they reasonable with the price as well, thanks again.XX
We used the cane shop near the water tower in Porvorim as you turn off the N11 to Calangute to make the sofas and Habitat near Parra on the road to Mapusa for cushion covers and mattresses
When we go back in October I will look out for a sofa bed and let you know if I find anything, hope to see you at the meets

re mattresses, we will be there for 5 wks next trip and as i have a back injury i find the beds impossible to sleep on,made do with putting a lilo on the bed last time
.so for our next trip we have bought a blow up matress,on sale in argos £9.99 for a double and only weighs 3kg
problem solved

Just watched a video that we took on our first visit to Goa, in 2000. Been every year since! Oh the changes!. Mainly the traffic! There was hardly any then! There i am, standing outside O'Pescador, waiting for hubby to catch up,( He was admiring one of those windy trees) and looking like one of the ladies of the night!(Not him, me!) I think 1 motorbike passed me! Now, you daren't stop anywhere near there or you will be run over a hundred times!!
Went down South in 2000, and there was just Palm Trees. Went to the same place this year, rows and rows of shacks and music blasting!
Must admit, it did look very peaceful then! Even though i still love the place, and still look forward to going back for the 11th year this year!

Thanks meagain I will look forward to your info on the sofa beds.I really do need to find some.Have a lovely time when you go,I have to wait till March for my trip.
I agree Goangirl. When our friends are going for the first time and they want to watch our videos from 12 years ago we have to tell them its not like that now, but we still love it and we still manage to find nice quiet beaches even now and I have to admit eating out is much better now, we seemed to eat in hotels quite often in those days, now we are spoilt for choice.
Col we'll give it ago you know us up for a laugh,me and chris are normally like belisha/pelican beacon's anyway with all the illuminous bands we wear
looking forward to it get all the others to join in the more the merrier..
