Has anyone used this booking option on sites like LAstminute?
The hotels all seem to be 4 or 5 stars but you don't know until you book where you're going & therefore can't do any research. Is it a gamble worth taking?
Would you advise booking now for November (to London) or hold off until nearer the time for the best deals?
Thanks for any advice!
As for when to book????? it has been really tricky to get good London deals lately.
If I were not to bothered as to where I was staying as long as the star rating was ok I would go for it, What other sites have you looked at??
Have a read through this topic tm . there is a good tip there from chrisp near the bottom on how to find out the hotel .
I haven't booked myself but a friend has a couple of times and both times they have got a Hilton hotel for much less than the going price. She told me that if you research beforehand you may be able to guess which hotel it is from the description
I've looked at loads of sites!! Am thinking I'll hold off a while & see nearer the time. Sounds as if the hotels turn out ok from your experiences.
When you do find one you like don't forget to check the hotels own website as occasionally there price will be lower than the 3rd party sites.
I've used this facility on Last minute before and been delighted. They probably won't get any cheaper between now & November, and there could be less choice, as hotels fill up closer to the date.
ok Thanks for that info. Maybe get 'on the ball' soon!
Thanks folks for all your useful advice
nice one!!!! so booking site and hotel was ??
Booked through Lastminute & the hotel is 4* Best Western Premier Shaftesbury Kensington.
There were others(4 & 5* but more expensive) available but we wanted proximity to Royal Albert Hall & this one worked out at under £100 per night for a deluxe double (no breakfast) & I was happy enough with that.
Also........ v interesting thread on Martin's money Saving webite that I came across devoted to 'outing' Top Secret hotels!
My only problem is that the Crowne Plaza is £70 booking with several agencies and also with hotel. Trip advisor reviews slightly better.
Advice?
Sue
It cost £42 and if I had booked with holiday extras it would have been £76!!
So worth checking all options.....Caz
I have been looking at the reviews for the Hilton not impressed with them on Trip Advisor and the reviews are much better for Crowne Plaza. Even though I will pay £70 £15 more than for the secret £55 would rather pay more.
Hilton is £95 per room on comparison sites and with so many bad or mixed reviews even at £55 I would not want it.
Sue
I am going to book the Crowne Plaza using TopCashback at £70 -£15 which will take this to exactly the same price of the Secret Hotel with lastinute.
