Thanks again for the quick reply. I guess I will just have to wait as the online seat booking allows you some 60 days in advance to book your seats but the telephone system allows you to book them 90 days in advance so my wife rang and booked seats.

When i check the online upgrades and seating allocation I do not get any seat plan or seat booking options ( I guess because they have already been allocated) but I can get chocolate and champagne....for £35.

Thanks again. Would you mind if I ask again in November?

Hi Darren,

We are booked in Premier seats 5A and B in the Premium cabin on Thomson flights TOM094/5 to and from Holguin on 22nd November and 6th December 2010.

Can you please tell me which plane this is likely to be? Additionally, the lady offered me these seat numbers when i called; i appreciate seating is subjective but any issues with these numbers that you are aware of please?

I have read on other forums that sometimes a plane is substituted with no Premium cabin; is this a likely occurence on this route please?

Many thanks,

Tracey

LGW-PUJ-LGW (TOM070/1) are operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER (winglets) normally from the former Thomsonfly fleet but I'll not know for sure until the first week of November if you want to remind me. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Your flights are operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER (winglets). You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). The seats you have are as good as any others in the premium cabin. Aircraft are changed when the assigned aircraft has a technical problem and taken out of service, it's not confined to a particular route. Some flights are currently effected by changes due to an aircraft being out of service. The latest information I have is the aircraft is due back in service by then so shouldn't effect your flights.

Hi Darren,

Thanks for the welcome and for the prompt reply.

Sorry to ask a further question, but what does "winglets" mean please?

Thanks very much,

Well back from cancun again it was brilliant really enjoyed it apart from the 24hr delay due to hurricane paula- Thomson Airways gave us a letter on disembarking in cancun to confirm the delay so hopefully we can get some degree of compensation for losing 24hrs+ of our holiday.

My question is i cant remember which aircraft registrations operated our flights i know they changed the outbound flight TOM348 NCL-CUN (Original dep day was supposed to be 13/10 ) 14th October from a ex.FCA aircraft and we got an ex. Thomsonfly 763 felt sorry for the premium passengers as they were told the a/c had no premium cabin! i think it may have been G-OBYH it definately had winglets can someone confirm and check- Also our return flight TOM349 on the 20th October CUN-NCL this again had winglets and was a ex. First choice a/c.

Cheers

Tinkie,

It means the aircraft is fitted with winglets. Their purpose is described in this post.

jays25,

G-OBYH operated TOM348 on 14/10/10. It was G-OOBL on 20/10/10.

ami123,

I don't I'm afraid but it makes little difference which registration you fly on. They're all the same inside.

Hi,
Returned on 24th October from Orlando & here's a brief trip report on the flights we had:
LGW-SFB 9th October - received the dreaded phonecall from the travel agent to say sorry, no premium cabin on your outbound flight. Oh well, nevermind! Checked in at Gatwick & received 2G & H so front row bulkhead seats but still quite cramped. Crew throughout flight were exceptional & still received the premium food & drink service but no amenity pack - chicken risotto was quite tasty. Made it into Sanford slightly early which is always welcome & then had to wait ages for the luggage as not priority tagged.

SFB-LGW 23rd October on G-OOBL- Did receive the premium cabin this time but on boarding there was no amenity pack yet again & the cabin was dirty - rubbish from the previous flight left in the seatpockets & on the floor, seats were sticky etc. Cabin lights were never completely dimmed, so sleep was a no-no.
However, the worst thing was that all 6 toilets malfunctioned in stages, so for over 4 hours you could only use them sparingly as none flushed - the smell was revolting! The captain did make an announcement about possibly having to divert to St Johns & then later on Shannon, but decided to push for Gatwick in the end. We all felt very sorry for the poor member of crew that had the unenviable job of having to manually try to unblock them :yikes
Upon landing at Gatwick, had to wait ages for luggage yet again as still not priority tagged.

Overall, the service was good, but having flown economy with them too, I personally didn't think the premium cabin was much more different or more comfortable, & certainly wouldn't pay more than £150 return for the priviledge. Next time we've both decided to stick with the extra legroom seats instead.
