Just read thanks to Goan Voice, that Thomas Cook Airlines ,will operate a return filght from Glasgow to Goa over the Easter holidays next year.
To gauge the potential demand, for developing the route. Could be good news for those of you in Scotland.
xx lassi
Five years ago it might have stood a chance, but with the big decline in charter business to Goa I'll be amazed if it ever comes off. The Edinburgh, Newcastle flights only lasted the one year before it was dropped, then the trek south for connectios began and continues to this day.

Big decline in charter flights?

The Thomas Cook flight from Glasgow is not exactly direct. All they have one is to change the departure times of their Gatwick flight by 2 hours which now goes via Glasgow.I'll feel sorry for people who had booked this flight and now have an additional stop.
I suppose the tour operator , is trying to prop up flagging demand in the UK , by trying to lure the Jocks in , with the Direct Flight option.
by trying to lure the Jocks in
My Brother who is English , has lived in Scotland for 30yrs , is called affectionately by his mates in Scotland a "Jockney" and he wholeheartedly considers himself a Jock , He tells me that the reference to sweat , Is considered in a bad light , and can result in Injury to the party , using that term .
Anyway , if I have caused offence , Sorry , but it does make me wonder just how woosie our country has become .
Mahal, as a Scot, I have always found that term as an offensive and condescending remark used generally, but not exclusively, by English when talking about Scots in a derogatory manner.
but it does make me wonder just how woosie our country has become
So, which Gatwick TC flight is now going via Glasgow? Just so I don't end up on it.
martin , this is my last comment on this subject , as in my experience , that term , especially when used in the context of humour , is used to make out the English as the dafter of the two nations .
born and bred in scotland call me a jock, kiltie, scot anything you want i dont find it abusive calm down all of you its just an expression he never meant anything by it
Ok can we drop this now as it's all going way off topic
So back to the flight, does it go LGW - GLA - GOI??
depart fri 01 apr2011 GLASGOW 0910 - GOA 2320
return sat 16 apr2011 GOA 0120 - GLASGOW 0800
From what I can gather it starts at Gatwick, picks up in Glasgow and then drops of in Glasgow before continuing to Gatwick.
Note the OUTBOUND date!
As jcbrum says, it's not great for those people who thought they'd booked a non-stop flight to Goa from Gatwick.
Thomas Cook seem to like to mess about with flights, last year they transferred all their Gatwick-Goa flights to Monarch.
Lots of very unhappy people.
I checked November 2011 and there was no choice to fly from Glasgow so I was just wondering.
According to the woman who posted the information on TA it's just the ONE flight at the end of this season (2010/2011).
From this, Thomas Cook are supposed to be able to gauge whether there is a demand for a flight from Scotland for next season.
I'm a bit sceptical as the flight started on sale as a Gatwick flight so some of the demand is already taken up by those people wanting to fly from Gatwick.
