copy of the complaint letter sent to first choice been over 28 days now, what should i do havent got a contact for abta regards
We booked our holiday in July with yourselves after a recommendation from family who also advised that the
Holiday Village Aliathon would be ideal for ourselves with 2 young children so we obtained a price off the internet
and then rang the offices who said they could do a price match, so we went through the details and explained that]we wanted all inclusive
and also on advise from family to upgrade to deluxe so we could stay in the new part the fishing village. To book the flights online
you have to specify what accommodation you require, so all was agreed ref number 4**** 10 days all inclusive paid a £450.00
deposit, after a month rang up to say received no paperwork, they said they would resend, another month passed to say still hadn't
received no paperwork, told would be sent again then on 13th October rang again getting quite angry as nothing had still turned up
and I had paid £450 and had no documentation to back that up, promised would be sent out by ____ at Stevenage office this time it
turned up price correct but no mention of what accommodation we would be staying in, so rang just to check and spoke to S***** who
said to my horror no we have you booked in for superior accommodation, she said she would speak to ____who booked the holiday and
see what they could do, ___ rang back to say all deluxe apartments for our date were full and we could go on the waiting list if someone
dropped out, this was not acceptable, being reasonable I said what alternatives and she said she would look at prices for the week after and come back to me with a price,
L**** called back to say we could go week after and stay in deluxe but it would cost us another £270.00, Well why should we have to pay extra if
the fault is not our own, she said that's giving us the same discount and not charging us to move dates, which i found a bit cheeky being that i never
intended to move dates, So if i cancelled would I get my deposit back, the answer was no. Reluctantly I have had to pay this extra cost.
To summarise if the paperwork had of been sent out earlier and not three months later this could of got sorted out earlier, also now this holiday has cost
us an extra £270.00 through no fault of our own, which will leave us very short and also has left a bitter taste in mouth.
Am I right in assuming you checked the price on the First Choice website and then rang a First Choice travel agency, or did you ring First Choice direct? I'm a bit lost after that. Where did booking the flights online come into it?
So, as I understand it, you dealt with a person at FC and thought you had agreed on what you had booked. Then later on find that they haven't booked what you wanted and they want more money off you. A bit like this one http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=148220&start=0
The problem is to get anywhere with a complaint you need documents (or recorded phone calls if it was done through telesales) about what you handed over your deposit for. Without this it will be your word against theirs and they have a lot of practise.
To complain about the lack of response you should have sent the letter by recorded mail and have a Proof of Delivery from Royal Mail.
Sent them an email to complain straight away they sent one straight back saying will be intouch within 28 days along with abta guidelines well over that now so whats my next step
