Day 24 New Years Eve
Out and about today to Calengute to change money.... traffic horrendous... real your life in their hands time and all rules of the road are null and void....exchange rate 69rps at the shoe shop......and to get glasses for my mother and my friend approx £25 per pair. Back to the guest house to make outfits for little Chris and Alfi the new year bash......shower and off to rising Waves to meet the crowd....something very strange......no "Taxi"..."taxi".....we got as far as the Kingfisher villa before a Taxi stopped we knew him so it was only 100rps not the rip off rates quoted by some on previous new years......we arrived at 8pm and were soon joined by dragon babs and lovely Clifton....little Chris and Alfi had their own seat!! Chilly and mike arrived shortly after with Rene and Ann (Hope Richard is feeling better soon!!!) Bob and his wife.....service was not too great but the restaurant was really busy...food was good but the fun came when the bills arrived...a total shambles eventually we got our bill....fortunately Honeybee checked it and we had been overcharged 1000rps......we then went on a orienteering trip to the beach and (eventually) arrived at the Boat Shack...the place was heaving... the dance floor was full of Indians waving their arms around and Chilly was in the middle of them.......12 arrived with the normal firework all around...very loud and a stray rocket landed and exploded in the boat Shack the Indian took little notice of this!!!!
Unfortunately Chilly was not feeling well and had to go early and people drifted off...it was a little nippy not by English standards.....we walked home along the beach....Happy New Year!!!!!
Day 25
Had a quiet day in for a change.....late afternoon went to Panaji on the scooter crossed the Mandovi on the Bentium ferry...parked outside the Mandovi Hotel and the Delhi Darbor resturant is right by....went over they were closed...opening at 7 so had time to kill...went for a coffee in coffee days.....51rps for a frappacino like drink...Honeybee checked the money....only had 1030rps...no cards.....and we know that the Delhi Darbour is not the cheapest of resturants.....so when we finally got in ...felt like a couple of students counting the pennies......meal quite good.....total 760rps so no washing up!!! Back on the ferry quite scary at night! And home by 9ish.....and an early night....
spoke to big Chris on the internet...he looking forward to meeting little chris and Alfi!!!
Happy New Year to all our friends in Goa. I hope Chilly & Richard are feeling better
Sorry to hear that two of the gang, were unwell. Hope they are now back on form .Your posts cheer me up, as I try to survive the freezing cold winter here, roll on March.
Best wishes to all in Goa

Day 26
We went to Morjim beach.....Steven the lovely taxi driver picked us up, we had a lovely day on the beach....yes we actually spent a whole day in the sand!!!! We had lunch at the Cool Place shack and beach huts.....Brenliz recommended it to us.....arrived home at six (ish) showered changed and walked into Candolim....we were going to eat in Fisherman cove but it was full so went to the mango grove.....okish small portions honeybee had 6 chips with his grilled tuna had to pick them up on the bill as they overcharged us...went onto Jambalaya.....Tom (Bluesmania) had finished early as the police were around enforcing the 10pm curfew, taxi home 100rps....back to normal prices!
Day 27
Went to the dentist at Dom Boscio hospital....quite surprised how good the equipment etc were...the dentist Dr Aldrin was really lovely no fillings so just had a scale and polish, back home to sort out making a dress and blouse for my friend.....met the neighbours and went to Shivers for lunch...lovely setting by the Kingfisher Villa, honeybee spent the afternoon teaching our neighbour Yannick the inn's and out's of playing cricket....then decided to watch the sunset so went to the Big Blue shack......on the menu 140rps for a Honeybee!!!!!! Whole bottle 120! Don't think we will be going back......
Went out late..ish picked up Big Chris and Alfi's tee shirts and went into Bom Sucesso.....all right until three tables lit up cigarettes...so we moved.....then we were near the loudest tourist in Goa.....you could probably hear him in panaji from Candolim....he went on and on....I thought he would shut up when he got his food ....wrong..... he then continued to describe the food to all on the table....we were in there for well over half an hour and no-one came for our order so we paid for our drinks and left....so cannot put a comment on the food ...service poor.... so popped into Tony's place food and service again very good...walked home......
Cricket yet again!!! Out on the bikes to get supplies and bargain down the tailor.....out for dinner early to Spice in Apora..... good food and average price drove home in the dark........not a big fan of that...arrived home all intact!!!....met up with our neighbour Kurt and Yannick and went to Calamari Tom was playing.....met a few from TA....they only sell small Kingfishers for 70rps.....toilets are grim!!!! One Indian seemed to be having problems with his credit cards using one after another and finally resorted to rupees borrow from his friends!!! Slow walk home.....
Day 29
Guess what???? Cricket yet again!!!! Early afternoon set off to Anjuna Market...parked up looked a little different from the last time we went....got asked lots of times "Hashish?"...."No"...."Marijuana"...
"No"....... we then asked how far the market was about 20 minutes walk in the way we had just come!!! So back on the bikes.....found the market and paid 20rps for parking the market was vast and selling lots of tat basically the things you can buy at Mupusa Market.....but more expensive.......you could not possibly get around all the stalls.....the ear picking man.....and the flute seller were there also...went up to Sea Breeze where there were live bands......there was an older man with a funny ciggie sort of dancing/walking round in circles in time with the band!!! It was very hot so we left the market at about 5ish.......we needed petrol.....70rps from the roadside....home shower and out to the carvery......The normal crowd......... Chilly, Mike the Dragons, Meagain, Coralin and family hullsmoggy and Tracey.....Kurt and Yannick joined us....I was not well...so unusually quiet.....taxi home....

The service was appauling.....and I had the worst coffee I have ever tasted in my life..slow walk home...
Day 32
Yet another quiet day....I hate being ill....so stayed in..... did a few shots with little chris and Alfi and e-mailed them off...spoke to big chris on facebook......in the evening feeling a little better so steven our lovely taxi driver picked us (collected Joseph on the way from Church) and we went to the Nightmarket at Apora....arrived 6ish...the place was packed.....with a lot of the stalls from Anjuna market....left at 9 ish...roads were packed...went back to the guest house Lucia cooked HB chicken curry of some description....and Joseph has discovered Honeybee (the drink) is good on ice-cream
Day 33
Feeling a little better, so Steven the lovely taxi driver took us out with lawrence and Florence to Verna to the....ABYSS....an aquarium 50rps.....not quite the same as the one in London.....but had a good time...I had a fish pedicure 200rps....when I had finished giggling!!!! We then went to Old Goa to the wax works museum....15rps....10rps for the camera! Little chris and Alfi had their picture taken with Ghandi!!! the girl giving us the guided tour spoke so quickly we went round it in lightning time and were soon in the "Gift shop" good place to visit....very cool!!!.....the to Bom Jesus Church in Old Goa where saint Francis Xaviour is layed to rest...his body never decomposed and he is in a silver casket......we went to see the Saint francis Xaviour light and sound show...15rps...we paid our money and were shown through a lovely garden into the show area....it was dark and the show had started......a girl with the smallest torch in the world walking backwards in the dark showed us into another room...there was a nun in white in there....looked like a ghost...made me jump....in England it would have carried a warning....for those of a nervous desposition!..the show carried on....his life story.....not quite Disney...the show finished ....we exited.....past the gift shop!!!!
We found Steven and went into Panaji for lunch to a punjabi resturant ....Shere-e-Punjab....food ..OK quick service....HB decided to eat the lime pickle.....you had to see the face he pulled.....back home...started on the packing!!!!
.....to be continued!!!
