[code]These changes will come into affect for all customers who book a holiday from 16th December 2010 departing after 1st May 2011. Bookings that have been made prior to this date will remain unaffected and the original allowance will be honoured. Customers who have booked Thomson and First Choice standard packages, including splash and kids club products will now receive a hold luggage allowance of 15kg. Customers who have booked Premier holidays with First Choice and Thomson will now receive a luggage allowance of 20kg rather then 23kg and for customers who have booked from our Small and Friendly, Gold, Holiday Villages, Thomson Families, Chic and Unique, Simply, Thomson Villas & Pools, Faraway Shores, Florida and Tropical products will all remain unaffected and will receive a 20kg complimentary allowance. For customers who book premium seating on their flight they will still be entitled to a luggage allowance of 23kg. [/code]

We have our hols booked for 10 April to Cancun, flight TOM022/023< i think that this will be ex First choice plane 2-3-2. We were lucky enough to be offered extra legrooms seats for really good money (was something like £50 for both of us). But know I read some horror stories that some seats do not offer additional space but even worse. We already booked our seats in rows 14 F/G and back home 20A/B - can anyone confirm that those seats have extra legroom? On the seats plan it looks ok, but I don't see on those plans any dividing walls
I'm really worried and would like to avoid being squished like a lemon for 11 hours flight.

Don't worry, the seats you have are extra legoom seats on the ex-FCA 76W. If you have row 14/20 booked, you should be on a V2 aircraft. Row 14 are bulkhead seats. These are extra legroom although due to the bulkhead infront, you may not be able to strech your legs out fully. They do offer more leagroom though. Row 20 is the overwing exit row. These offer greater legoom still, more than the premium cabin and are my preffered seats for extra legoom. As there isn't a seat immediately infront of these rows, the IFE screen and tray-table fold out of the armrests. This means the arm rests aren't movable on these rows and the seats are slightly narrower. Huge thanks Darren for prompt reply. I know there is still more than 60 days left, but man, we were waiting so long for this holidays (almost 2 years savings :) )

thanks to everyone for their helpful replies following my luggage question earlier, i have emailed the airline and they have stated that premium allowance remains unchanged at 23kg per person and to disregard any other info on invoices etc, so hopefully thats the final answer i need, better get packing... :cheers

emmacat,suggest you print off any emails that you have received so that you can show disbelieving check in staff if necessary - I've had a problem relatively recently with check in staff at Cardiff over hold allowance and was glad I'd got the email as evidence!!

Thomson starts roll out of new aircraft

Thomson Airways took delivery of the first of 22 Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s today.

The airline will have four of the new aircraft in operation by April, operating from Bournemouth, Doncaster, Luton and East Midlands.

All 22 are scheduled to be operating on short and medium-haul routes by summer 2013.

The aircraft are 15% more efficient and also improve customer comfort thanks to LED mood lighting, larger overhead stow bins, less noise, and a new-style seat that feels more spacious.

Seat pitch and recline, however, remain the same.

Thomson Airways will also take delivery of eight Boeing 787 Dreamliners from 2012.

David, I went on a Thomson 737-800 last year from EMA to Halkidiki. Are these 737s that you mention different to the one I went on?

Interior wise, apart from the cabin improvements mentioned in Davids post, they are the same as the current 73H's (737-800 winglets). Seat pitches are the same. The main improvement with the 737NG is the fuel efficiency.

Thanks for the reply Darren. I enjoyed the flight on the 737 last year, I had extra legroom, but my favorite is the 757. The takeoffs from small Greek airports are fantastic, a real push in the back! I would love to take off from Skiathos on a 757, the runway is very short. Last time I went to Skiathos it was in a 737-300 which had to land and refuel at Thesalonica.

The 752 has the highest power-weight ratio of all the airliners making it a sports car of the sky. A none de-rated take-off is rather fun! It's a shame many airlines are now phasing them out as they're being replaced by newer generation aircraft. Even today though, there's no true replacement for the 752 in terms of range and performance. A remarkable feat of design and engineering with some of the younger ones being given a new lease of life with the addition of API blended winglets. They'll be in the TOM fleet for a while yet though.

We are off to Florida (sanford) on 20th August 2011 - until 3rd Sept 2011. I know the flight out is at 10.05 from LGW, but unsure of return flight?? :duh
