We have had the breakfast buffet at Luxor and it is fine. There are tons of good buffets, although I don't remember seeing any of the eateries you named.

Each hotel has its own buffet, most are perfectly fine. At your end of the strip, Mandalay Bay is particularly good, I also like MGM, Planet Hollywood, Bellagio. Too many to name really!!

I'm sure you will be out and about everywhere. Drink deals (that are hopefully still on) - Bill's $1 Margaritas (can see/smell tequila), Casino Royale $1 Margaritas (no taste of alcohol though) also $1 michelob. O'Shea's bailey's slush $2??? can't remember - Luci can you help?

The various Cirque de Soleil shows are good. We have seen Mystere and Love, both good. We also enjoyed Brad Garrett's comedy club at the Tropicana which is near your hotel.

Where to start? I would suggest using the Search facility on this forum and looking for Vegas as there are a lot of topics which might be of interest. Don't worry that some of them might seem old as the info is probably still current. Just post in any topic you are interested in and I'll check if for you.

Vegas isn't the cheapest place to eat out, but the buffets provide good value. The buffet at the Luxor isn't the best and you can get better for the same price or very little extra.

HERE is a searchable list of all the buffets with prices and times. Manadalay Bay is very good as is the MGM. Aria and the Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan are among the best. The Spice Market at Planet Hollywood used to be good, but has gone downhill HERE is a link to $5 off which makes it better value. Remember to print of a few as you need one per person.

The Camelot Steakhouse at the Excalibur is very good and reasonable by Vegas standards. There is a decent food court upstairs at Showcase Mall which is on the strip just up from the MGM which has a Panda Express, Wendy's and a few other places.

There is a Denny's across from the Monte Carlo/Diablo's.

I think you will be there over Memorial Day weekend when there are very good sales at the outlets.

There are a few Tix4Tonight outlets on the strip. The queue is usually shorter at the one at the Hawaiian Marketplace on the east side of the strip. You can get show tickets there on the day of the show up to half price.

Any questions, just ask.

Thanks for the very speedy replies, It looks as though it will be ''So much to do and so little time'' I will show my O/H the recommended sites and she will no doubt print every available coupon and start to compile a ''Must Do List'' which will no doubt involve a trip to the Shopping Malls :duh
Thank you so very much for your help so far ....Keith

Hello,

some of the restaurants you mentioned ponderosas etc i dont think they are on the west coast.. we went in florida when we were there but unfortunatley they didnt have them..
outback steakhouse looks pretty good & reasonably priced, we were going to eat there but it was really late & hot so we decided on something else that night.. theres a few locations on the strip & they have a website you can look at..
we did eat at gallaghers steak house in new york new york not really cheap, lol but was lovely..

We also booked our trip to the grand canyon on a website called viator over here before we went got a flight & they had an offer on at the time we booked, there website is worth a look if theres any tours you fancy.. may get a good deal?

we also saw criss angels believe at the luxor where you are staying & really enjoyed that show.. i hear he has made some changes to it & has been getting good reviews.. depends what your in to though!!

Hope you have a fab time.. we also were there that time last year we flew to LA on the 29th may for 5 nights then on to Vegas for 5 nights.. was really hot.. was like 108 degrees the one day!! :D
Also i was looking & thought about the 24 hour all you can eat buffet pass i think its $50

visit any of the following buffets, as often as you'd like, within a 24 hour period

* Carnival World Buffet at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino
* Flavors at Harrahs Las Vegas
* Paradise Garden Buffet at Flamingo Las Vegas
* Emperor's Buffet at Imperial Palace
* Le Village Buffet at Paris Las Vegas
* Lago Buffet at Caesars Palace
* Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino

so if you buy at dinner time one night you could have dinner twice but in different places & breakfast in between? or whatever you like but you get the jist.. :)

THIS is a good site for choosing which shows you fancy. However don't book through there as you can usually get them cheaper elsewhere. If you post which shows you are interested in I might be able to tell you where to get the best deal.

Carrot Top is a comedy show at the Luxor which is quite good and you can get the tickets for $39 from Tix4Tonight + $5 service charge. You can get a coupon for $2 off the service charge on the T4T website.

How long are you there for? Any shopping plans?

Funny how peoples opinions differ - I thought Criss Angels show at the Luxor was the biggest waste of money ever in my life!! The guy has no talent whatsoever in my opinion and I wouldn't recommend anyone waste an hour or so of their life watching it!! (in my opinion :D )

There are some Tony Roma's in Vegas, they do decent ribs obviously, but if you want the best ribs, go to TGI Fridays, there's one in the Gold Coast hotel/casino and a couple more dotted around. The best burgers in the world can be had at 'In and Out' burger, there are a few of them dotted around.
Denny's do a decent breakfast at a reasonable price but they get VERY busy so you may have to wait a little while for a table.
The hotel buffets can be great but after you've had a couple, you may find that they all become the same and you want something different.
The Cheesecake Factory at Caesars Palace is good for large portions and decent food.
Gallaghers in New York New York are hard to beat for steaks, they are awesome! We go there every year.
There are lots of very nice restaurants if you want to go out for a 'nice' meal of an evening.

Show wise, again, it depends what you're in to. The Cirque shows in Vegas are great and you can normally get tickets for half price or at least discounted for some of them online. We normally book shows before we go and pick the tickets up on the night.
Blue Man Group is really good too.
Here are a couple of sites worth looking at -

We will be there for 6 days 4 of us all 1st timers. When it comes to shopping I always tend to have an open mind (but a locked wallet :rofl ) When we went to Florida there were some great bargains to be had especially the American brands Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren,Rockport ect,and the sportswear was excellent as well. The thing with Florida was we had been a few times and tended to know our way around and which Outlets/Malls were best, also we had 3 weeks to fit everything in. You could spend a week easily in some of the Malls, do you think there is a best/quieter time to visit the ones in Vegas like a.m or pm and if you had to do 1 (or maybe 2) which ones.........
many thanks Keith

The Premium Outlets North are better than the PO South which are nearer you. Going there will take more than half a day so it depends if it is worth the time to you.

You can catch the SDX (Strip & Downtown Express) opposite Manadalay Bay MAP HERE for PO North or at MB for PO South. You will see the difference in distance on that map. It's the single decker bus. The Deuce is the double decker and much, much slower as it stops everywhere. However it is good to get up and down the strip. Both cost $7 for a 24 hour pass.

We normally get there at 10.00am for the shops opening and it gets much busier by the time time we are leaving at 1-2pm.

I agree that buffets get very old very quickly and I don't really like them for dinner, but they are fine for breakfast as by the time you buy a breakfast, juice and coffee elsewhere it can work out dearer than the buffet with less choice.

For a cheap meal there is Ellis Island which is a 10 min walk behind Bally's. You can get a sirloin steak dinner including a beer for $6.99 in the restaurant. It's not on the menu, you just ask for it. Not the best steak you'll every have, but decent for the money. They also do chicken and ribs at the BBQ which is a huge plate of food for around $8-9 and gets great reviews. However I any time we've tried to go to the BBQ the wait time has been 2 hours or more so need to decide if it's worth the walk.

Luci how long would it take to get to the North Outlet on the bus, and can we buy the 24 hr pass from the driver, I think I read somewhere you can buy a weekly pass for about $25. Just thinking if we go early to the North we could grab some breakfast in the food court which would save us a bit of time...
thanks Keith

Last May it took us 30 mins from Paris at 9.40am and 35 mins to get back. From MB it would be 35-40 mins. The Deuce would take a lot longer.

You have to buy your ticket from the vending machine at the bus stop, exact change only so you can put in $14 for 2.

North outlets http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=58

South outlets http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=61

Join their VIP club and you get access to most discount coupons, but check nearer the time you are going as they keep changing. I once got a coupon for 40% off Timberland.
