When you are on holiday do you take a camera/phone/video recorder/underwater camera/disposable camera etc etc.
My daughters usually use their phones but 16 year old has just brought a camera from Argos. £200 reduced to £80!!! 14.2Mega Pixels and the good thing is you don't use batteries, you plug it in and charge it which is brilliant because I'm fed up of buying batteries that last 2 minutes! She has brought this especially for holidays.
What kind of things do you use to capture those special moments?

I love photography and have a FUJI fine pix 30 and underwater housing, strobe and various other attachements. The majority of my photo's are taken underwater. My camera is quite dated now but I am reluctant to part with it as it still does a job and it was the first underwater camera I ever had when I took up diving. Having the camera was a very good way for me to get over various claustraphobic issues I had with diving as it took my mind off stuff!

I've been known to take the camcorder away with me. 
I had a great Samsung camcorder until I dropped it in Malaga Airport, I lost quite a bit of footage which was 'one off' events, I've now got a dinky Panasonic HD camcorder (HDC-SD10) which is supposed to be idiot proof, but I found it too dinky at first and I'm only just getting used to it...I much prefer my old tape Samsung, but technology moves on.
I like the editing part and making a video, I could spend hours messing about with the various effects, music etc.
Cameras don't do anything for me, David Bailey or Lord Snowden I will never be.

I have one of the Canon powershot cameras which I love. It's got so many features on it- I've had it for a few years now and still don't use (or know how to ) all the features. I bought industrial strength rechargeables and they last ages. I take loads of photos with it. It has a record feature which I tried out properly for the lfirst time last summer but it will only record for a minute at a time. I'm wondering whether I'm doing something wrong or whether I need a larger memory card 
i love my old fine pix but it is a bit bulky so this year i got myself one of those little compact digital's its a vivitar f332 14mp, used it on one holiday so far and am pleased with most of the results, but it has so many setting i get confused [it was a lot easier in the good days with a full functioning 35mm] as for taking pictures on a phone ...your having a laugh.... my phone has 5mp camera permanent internet, mp3, t/v, video cam and god knows what else, i have had it for 3 yrs and all i can do is make phone calls [cant even text never have been able to and never will]

Ive bought a black samsung out of my catologue, it was 70 quid reduced from 120 quid..charge it up and no batteries..:O)

Yes thats right Shirley, mine did the same and a friend told me it was because my memory card was to small, so bought a bigger one and it records for 15mins, so next holiday i'm going to buy an even bigger one so I can record for longer

I take all of the above, and more! Cameras include a SeaPro SP5 marine video housing with Sony D8 video camera, Canon 50D D-SLR with Sigma 10-20mm EX, Canon 24-105 F/4 L and either a 70-300 or 50-500mm depending on need, and flash gun. That leaves about 50% of my luggage allowance for clothing!

Love taking pics and have a Fuji finepix 2950 18 x optical which I love - camera before was Fuji. I take the odd pic on my phone and then instantly send back home to show where I am etc and to keep brief record on me for future
Just noticed a few of you have mentioned "Housing" what is this? I'm going to sound really stupid saying this but is it for you camera so you can take it underwater?

Not far off! I once took 2 suitcases to Antigua, one with cameras and diving equipment and the other with clothes! The advantages of flying scheduled airlines when you have an allowance of 2 suitcases with up to 23kg in each! Housings are like a shell or case to go around a camera to allow them to be used in harsh environments or underwater for snorkelling or scuba diving. This is the one I take with me;
(SeaPro SP5 marine video housing) all 7kg of it!

I just need to work out how to cram all that in the suitcase for September now for the Maldives and whether to bother to take the housing with me. Decisions decisions! You can never have enough cameras on holiday, you might never go back to that destination.Darren
I use a Panosonic fz28 bridge camera and a Panosonic Fs11 compact to slip in my pocket at all times, phone and Video camera. After 40 years of carrying all the SLR equipment I now enjoy the bridge camera with its 18x zoom.Be cautious about big cards they do go wrong and if you have hundreds of photos you have lost it's funny, backup as you go if possible

For cameras like these, buy an extra batterie, as if you ate taking photos all day, the charge can soon run out, and then you cant take any more photos
I always make sure I have a spare batterie for my camera
I would agree with that, always carry a spare fully charged battery or 2, they always seem to run out just at that special picture moment

I take my Netbook and save the pictures on there, I started doing this after my memory card failed on a trip to Egypt and I lost all the pictures on the card
I now also use THIS as safe backup storage with the benefit of being able to view pictures or videos online or share easily with friends / family even when you are still away, there is also an app that stores anything you take from a phone.
You can store files of any type and you can log in and view your files from any computer in the world

I have just downloaded it Kiltman thank you very much.. I don't quite understand how you do the whole online thing though? It's just created a folder in my documents do I just drag and drop my files here?
