Hi all :cheers
just had an Email regarding one of our internal flights with Kingfisher....
We are flying from Mumbai up to Delhi...then from Delhi to Bagdogra (Darjeeling) both with Kingfisher.
Kingfisher have informed me that they have cancelled the Delhi to Bagdogra flight....and also charged me £30 for the pleasure of doing it.... :que
But managed to book similar flights with Air India...(£30 cheaper than Kingfisher....so nothing lost). :tup

Indian airline seeks rescue package from foreign carriers

India's Kingfisher Airlines is pressing the Indian government to relax rules on foreign ownership to pave the way for a potential rescue package for the debt-laden carrier.

It claims it is already in talks with two foreign carriers keen to take minority stakes in the airline, which has not made a profit since its launch in 2005.

Kingfisher's owner, Indian liquor baron Vijay Mallya, refused to name the airlines but India's newspaper The Times suggested British Airways' parent IAG might be interested. IAG refused to comment.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad is also believed to be keen to discuss a tie-up with Kingfisher, which needs an immediate cash injection to remain solvent, but it did not confirm its particular interest at this stage.

Kingfisher has already cut its fleet from 28 to 64 aircraft and many of its pilots have left because they have not been paid.

Mallya, who controls 58% of Kingfisher, told The Times the government had provisionally approved a change in the law to allow foreign airlines to own up to 49% of an Indian airline for the first time.

I flew out on 3rd January with them and had no problems, everything on time and great service and flights. From reading the papers over here the flights being cancelled are mainly internal flights from small airports and a few flights to Thailand and Singapore. There has been no flights to the UK affected so far ;)

Our return flight Goa to Mumbai has been changed twice now.
It looks as if there are only 2 flights a day now.
The early morning one and then from Goa at 2.30.
The first change we were informed about 3 weeks ago and the last just over a week ago.

We are due to fly out on 30/3 via Mumbai to Goa, I have read so much about the situation lately. and now I really don't know waht to think! - although they are in severe financial trouble, the airline seems to be carrying on even at a much reduced capacity with the LON to Mumbai and Delhi flights still operating. They are also apparently in talk with IAG (BA & Iberia's owners) so i just hope something comes out of that, from what I read they have still not paid staff outstanding wages due and still owe taxes to the Indian Govmnt - so not sure how long they can survive without some sort of help/bailout/merger. Is there anything more promising on the news in India? - if they go bust at the last minute I cannot see us being able to get another flight and we SO want to return to Goa for our hols this year :( - fingers crossed for better news!!!! :que

All kingfisher flights have been grounded internal and internationsl, it is all over the local TV, thee are riots in Delhi, Mumbai, Dubai, and Diablim, as stranded passengers are trying to get information. Jet airways, Air India are refusing to help the stranded passengers, unless they pay for new flights.

Devastating news for anyone out there, or due to go. However the writing has been on the wall since the turn of the year, anyone booking after that time was taking a risk.

Are you sure they have grounded all aircraft? - only info I can see says about IATA suspending their ticketing license? - thats a different thing. Also a statement on the Kingfisher website says :

Home Media Center Press ReleasesArchivesShare11Statement from KFA - 7th March 2012

Mumbai; March 7, 2012----Due to the accounts getting attached by the tax authorities, we were not able to make a payment to ICH which resulted in a temporary suspension. We are working with the tax authorities and expect the accounts to be un-attached shortly. As soon as this is done, we will pay our dues to IATA and get reinstated.

Meanwhile, Kingfisher Airlines continues to operate 200 flights to 46 domestic and international destinations. The ICH suspension does not impact our guests travelling on any Kingfisher Airlines flight or our flight schedules. Our guests can continue to book with confidence either directly with Kingfisher Airlines or through their travel agents.

Please don't scare me like that again :yikes

Kingfisher may well be saying that every thing is still flying, but on the news here in India they are saying that there not one company, that is willing to provide them with the aviation fuel for the planes, as they have built up such a massive debt with them all. Until they have paid all out standing debts they will not supply the fuel. They are also saying that everytime a kingfisher flight takes off or lands in any airport they have to pay the fees before they are allowed to use the airports.Airline staff still haven't received any wages since December 2011. The pilots that havent resigned, are now refusing to fly until there wages have been paid, and yet the kingfisher owner is still appearing on TV saying that there are no problems.

If you have paid by credit card you can get your money back through section 75, this can take 6-8 weeks but at least you will get the money. This has been on the local tv all day long. So I can't see him keeping this airline going.

Plus none of the travel agents are issuing tickets with Kingfisher, the only way you can book a flight with them is direct on the internet or at there offices, although none of the Kingfisher offices in India are open, as they have no staff to operate them. It really looks dodgy. My friend went to book her return flight home yesterday at the travel agents, and they said then, that they would not be dealing with kingfisher any more. So she is going home with Jet airways. Kingfisher when running are a good airline.

Thanks for the update!! - sounds as if it will only be a matter of time, unless they get a massive cash injection!- which sounds unlikely, I booked through Southall Travel, who are ATOL protected, say they will refund me for scheduled airline failure, so at least I won't lose out - but what are the chances of getting another flight over Easter?!? :que

Very little time left by the looks of it, I am back in Goa and all everyone seems to be talking about is kingfisher it is true about no one supplying them fuel read this http://ibnlive.in.com/news/kingfisher-crisis-worsens-oil-firms-stop-fuel-supply/237081-7.html

They are still denying it though http://ibnlive.in.com/news/kingfisher-denies-shutdown-rumours/236065-7.html
