We bought a motor home last year and had great fun during the summer exploring camp sites in the Cork/Kerry region of Ireland. We're looking forward to exploring more of Ireland this year and keeping my fingers crossed that we'll get to France too.
Any other 'motor caravaners' out there?
We too bought a motorhome last year - and we have been the proud owner of a Swift Kontiki 645 since September and so far we have enjoyed some wonderful times in her. We have nciknamed her Winnie after my late Mum and she has opened up an entirely new world for us.
I enjoy my holidays abroad - but must confess the sheer freedom and adventure that a motorhome offers takes some beating and personally I much prefer it to flying off to foreign climes. Having said that we are off to Dover on Friday and catching the next day Ferry over to Calais and are then travelling through France down to Spain for a couple of weeks. We plan to tour around and intend to wild camp a lot of the time in fact we have just purchased a generator for the wild camping times. We recently wild camped in Cornwall and we parked up in the most amazing spot and when we looked out of the rear window it was as if we were parked over the cliffs edge. We could see the waves crashing onto the rocks and we went to sleep to the sounds of the sea - it was a wonderful evening and one both myself and my husband will always remember with fondness - I don't think any campsite could ever offer such a remarkeable location.
We really want to explore Ireland too - it is a place that I have always wanted to visit - so hopefully we will get the chance this year sometime - you will have to let me know some of the places to visit. I will let you know how we get on driving through France and will write a report when we return.
Happy motoring.

Hi Sonesta, just browsing this site and have seen your posting about going to Spain in January in your motorhome. We are planning to go next January and would appreciate any information you could give re wild camping, where you overnighted whilst travelling down, any good sites you stayed on, what the temperature was like? Basically any information at all as it will be our first time abroad in motorhome, although we have been motorhoming for 5 years now, and it is absolutely the best thing we have ever done.
I am in the process of considering buying a sea dinghy fiat motorhome so may soon be joining you !
Ended up buying a ace milano plus.... I am a complete novice when it comes to motorhomes !
