After a number of aborted trips since our last visit in 2008 (trip report here
http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=124744) we finally agreed to head back to Vegas in 2012 especially as it will be my 40th birthday this year. The thing is my birthday isn't until November and I really couldn't wait until then to hit Vegas so after some little persuasion my Wife and I agreed we would go at the end of March. In the months leading to booking I searched around for accommodation pretty much as I had done in the past but nothing really stood out, there seemed to be little in the way of bargains so initially we booked an Excalibur Widescreen Room, missed out on a great 50% deal off at Tropicana and flirted with the prospect of booking Vdara. Everything else seemed too expensive, well apart from the usual suspects (Riviera £100 all in for our dates). Finally, after waiting for what seemed like months Virgin had their sale just before Christmas and rather surprisingly flight/hotel combo packages seemed to be the way to go this time. We booked through Opodo on Christmas Eve, direct flights with Virgin and 6 nights in a Hollywood Hip Room at Planet Hollywood. Taking into account the standalone Virgin flight price, the 6 nights at PH worked out at around £200 ($52pn average including a Saturday) which was comfortably better than the Excalibur deal and anything else kicking around at the time. All in all we paid £650 each with cashback from Top Cashback. A great deal I thought.
