We got back from the Cabello hotel in la Carihuela yesterday afternoon and as usual had a lovely time. I'm glad to say that we had much better weather this year than last, only seeing rain on our second morning. We spent 2 days on the beach as it was really hot with blue skies and the rest of the time we spent walking and travelling around as although it was dry and sunny there was a wind that kept the temps down.
We arrived there on Monday 2nd and took the train from the airport to Torremolinos. We decided to forego a taxi and take the downhill stroll into la carihuela. Our room was waiting for us and as soon as we unpacked we went off in search of a late lunch. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking in the area and had our evening meal in one of the many restaurants.
We awoke to a very cloudy Tuesday morning so decided as we wouldn't be able to go to the beach we'd take a trip to Mijas. We walked to the station in Torre and caught the train to Fuengirola and then the bus onwards to mijas. I'd taken Sanji's instructions of how to get from the station to the bus to Spain with me but I'd left them in our room

We had a really enjoyable few hours in Mijas, taking in the atmosphere, the church, bullring, museum and the beautiful scenery. It gave heavy rain showers but didn't spoil the day.
On Wednesday we walked into Benalmadena and called for a drink and something to eat in an Irish bar on the way back and on Thursday we walked along the front up to Torremolinos. We enjoyed a drink and some Tapas in the sunshine and browsed some of the shops. The weather was beautiful on Good Friday so we spent it on the beach and had our evening meal in La Bodigas ( I think that's how you spell it?)- the fish restaurant that's owned by Dolores (mother of a matador who also served us). We love this restaurant as she is so friendly and funny and the atmosphere's cosy. I was even serenaded by an older man with his guitar

Malaga by train was our destination on Saturday and we spent a couple of hours shopping. We ate at a traditional Spanish cafe in a back street. We didn't understand a word of the menu but we had it translated for us and we ordered 3 plates of raciones- one of which the owner picked especially for us.
Sunday was the best day of the lot and we had to take care not to burn. We made the most of it, eating lunch and enjoying a few sangrias on the beach at playa miguel. Sea food was our choice for the evening meal at la Cigalas and we had a window table overlooking the beach.
All too soon, Monday came around and it was time for us to come home.
Another great break in our favourite Spanish resort.
