Hi we are flying to New York on the 3rd sept ,we booked it through Thomsons with our flight leaving edinburgh to LHR then connecting on a flight to newark ,we have been told we cannot pick the seats we want until 24hrs before flying unless we pay beforehand, This is the second time we have been to New York and didnt need to wait 24hrs before flying to pick our seats that didnt cost anything, Is this correct or is Thomson wrong in saying this.
With BA you can choose your seats free of charge 24 hours before your first flight, so you will get a head start on those leaving direct from London.
Jack
Is it because the UK doesn't worry about who's coming in but just who's going out?
Should he be 'nagging' BA to give him access to the API declaration for his incoming journey?
Many thanks for any help and advice.
It's Germany Alsa . If you are flying to and from Germany API is not required. The German government keeping detailed records on peoples movements is still a sore point . So the country didn't agree to using API.
Great stuff Judith! I'll tell him ... so as he now has his E-tickets, he can now just wait for T-24, check in and go! Thanks so much for a prompt and reassuring reply!
BA launches new Vegas flights
British Airways will start flights from Gatwick to Las Vegas from October 29.
The three-times-a-week service will be operated by a three-cabin Boeing 777.
Flights go on sale this week, with return World Traveller fares from £722.
Alongside the Heathrow service, BA will operate 10 flights a week to Las Vegas.

Could anyone tell me the difference please between a British Airways schedueled flight to Cancun, and a Thomson package deal to the same destination ? We are thinking of going from Gatwick, via Manchester to Cancun with British Airways on 9/10/12.
The main difference is the aircraft used and the onboard facilities included. BA use a Boeing 777 with 31" seat pitch in economy. Thomson have 33". Drinks and meals are complimentory with BA, drinks have to be paid for with TOM. BA's luggage allowance is 23kg, TOM's is 20kg. Those are the main differences. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). The flight via Gatwick will add 2-3 hours to your journey depending on specific flights and connections, your flight with TOM is non-stop. Subject to price, I'd go with TOM personally as you'll have greater seat pitch and it's a direct journey.
Darren
The price difference is around £185 pp with TOM being the most expensive. I'm surprised to hear the BA scheduled 777 fight seating is less than TOM in economy ? I know you can upgrade with BA seatwise but really dont know what they can offer for a little more, would you happen to know our options as I cannot find anything online with a BA seating plan and/or what class you can fly and how much it might cost ect.. ?
Thanks for the information btw.
If you go on to the BA website you can get the costs. I have done it for you on your date and from Gatwick, made if for 2 weeks and WT comes out as £644 but WT+ comes out at £1094. YOu can't upgrade from cheap economy flight using miles. Go with BA economy. Bigger baggage allowance, free food and drink on the flight and the seat pitch is fine. I know- I've done it often enough and am actually flying economy to Cancun in July.

I'd agree with Fiona then, go with BA with there being that much of a difference in price.

One last question.
I assume BA dont do a direct flight from Manchester to Cancun then...or do they ???

no chance I'm afraid! BA should really be renamed London Airways. Apart from regional flights in to their hubs, everything is from London.
Darren
Just had our first BA flight, Heathrow to Istanbul and back. what a great experience against the so called cheap airlines rugby scrum and Thompsons knees around you neck. No rush to get on , free seat selections 24 hours before , free food and drinks and leg room. I wish they went from Bristol
Just a quick question to ask what drinks/snacks can we expect to be served on BA464 LHR-MAD departing at 1400?
All the details are on BA's website. There's a complimentory bar and a light snack, for example sandwiches.
Darren
I had seen that screen, but it does not make it clear if you get a proper sandwich or just a few nibbles!
At least on Easyjet you get the option to buy food on board. For an additional £60 outbound and £50 inbound over Easyjet I had expected better.
luv2travel - I'd recommend getting a sandwich at the airport to take on the flight or eat at the airport before boarding.
