Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
Hi everybody.

A piece of advice for you, we originally booked our flight to Kiev a few weeks ago, at the time the flight we wanted to travel on was not available so we had to book the slightly later flight, last week the earlier flight became available again so I called BA who changed us to the earlier flight and charged us £25 admin fee, I was told the e-ticket would be online in a few minutes, over a week and a half later still no e-ticket, several calls later to customers services and we have been told the e-ticket will not be issued meaning we cannot check in online or choose our seats.
My advice is never change your original booking for a BA flight, if you do you will probably lose the benefits of online check in and will have to have whatever seats are left at check in at the airport.
Looking on other forums it seems this is regular practice by BA, they take your admin fee and give you an inferior product.
A severe complaint has been made but I doubt anything positive will come from it.

BA admin can be very strange. I wrote to them asking for confirmation about taking medical equipment as supplementary handbaggage. It was a very clear and straightforward message ... sent from the BA website. My reply came from BA North America (?) and was simply a cut and paste from their T+C nothing to do with my question. And this after 14 days.

I wrote back indicating that the reply had nothing to do with my question and that a relatively long delay had elapsed between question and reply. Later that day, I got a reply with the info I was seeking.

Their customer service remains uneven, though I was more than happy with the service I received in the air.

Hiya

I'm out to Tampa Fl next month from LGW. I am Flying BA Club. I flew club there a while back and tipped up a bit late and had my seat allocated to me. It was terribly placed. For the whole flight I had a guy who needed the toilet frequenly climbing over my legs to get out from his window seat over my isle seat foot rest extension. In the end I just sat up and watched TV.

The plane we flew on had a very small Club section (maybe 20 seats?) so my choices are limited. Think it's a 767. Anyone any the wiser or able to suggest what seat is best? I am travelling alone, a 4 day turn around and it's a day flight out.

Cheers

Johnaldinho ,

Welcome onboard :tup
If you post your flight details, ie dates and flight numbers, I'll be able to give you aircraft infomation. Assuming it's the LGW-TPA-LGW (BA2167/6), these are operated by Boeing 777-200/ER. Seating is personal preference, there aren't really any 'best' seats. It's really weather you prefer a window or an isle seat. You'll find seat maps on BA's website.

I thought i replied earlier but obviously not. I've flown Club a few times but always as a couple so its easier for us. Go on to online check in exactly 24 hours before the flight and choose your seat. There will be a map there. You can also pay to reserve in advance. We did that when we got upper deck. Perhaps if you have long legs then a window seat might be best- that way you are the one doing the climbing!

Thank you Fiona & Dazbo...

I am out and back on BA 2167 and 2166. Looking at it being a 767 I will be better off in a row 4 aisle seat or in the middle.....not in the window. Or 1A/4K looks on the money entry to it as a window seat is 'behind' 4J and not over anyone else's food rest. So maybe there is a best seat after all (although near the toilet). I am not normally that fussy but the Tampa club price is now so much and used a business hub its forced me to be choosey! ;-)
Have they improved the food now on BA as well and are the seats new on that route would anyone know? Last time I was served a 'fillet of beef' which I kid you not tasted like chewing an old boot!

1A/4K - that was the one I was thinking of yesterday but wasnt sure if it was the same cabin. It is near the toilet but I had that one once and it was fine.

British Airways has relaunched services between Northern Ireland and London Heathrow after an 11-year gap.

Following the acquisition of bmi by International Airlines Group (IAG), British Airways is operating the service between Belfast City Airport and London Heathrow.

Willie Walsh, International Airlines Group"s CEO said to guests at an event at Belfast City Airport: "I am delighted today to see the British Airways colours back in Belfast.

"I publicly committed to serving Belfast if we acquired additional runway slots at Heathrow and the acquisition of bmi has given us the perfect opportunity to make that happen."

Last month I booked flights with BA from Edinburgh to Heathrow for next March to connect with onward flights with Malaysian Airlines to Oz. I received an email yesterday informing me that my flights have been cancelled but they have booked me on "suitable alternatine flights" The Edin-Heathrow flight has been shifted from 16.55 to 13.10 which will leave us with seven and a half hours to hang about before our 22.00 flight to Kuala Lumpur. This in spite of the fact that they have a flight leaving Edinburgh five minutes before the cancelled one On the return our 19.00 flight has been shifted to18.25 which would leave us only 2hrs 10 min to get over from Term. 4 to Term 1
I tried phoning the number given several time today, a 1844 no. of course, each time I was told there was excessive demand and a wait in excess of 15 min. The last time I attempted to call at 17.30 the same message of excessive demand, but this time the message simply said to do any changes online and unplugged.
I attempted a flight change as instructed but at the end of it was advised that this change would cost me £177.00. !!
Any advice regarding what to do, other than join a excessive queue tomorrow to try and put right this mess ?

Thanks Nejulie, I gave the 0844 no. one last chance at 8.00am today and managed to get through pretty quickly. They changed my flights ok, I just dont understand why, when they cancel a flight at 16.55, they put you on a flight at 13.10, when they have a flight available leaving 10 min. before the cancelled one. A suspicious mind might think that the 16.50 would be easier to sell than one in the middle of the day. Sort of thing you'd expect from the likes of Ryanair, but not of everyones "favourite airline", or mabey not !

That's exactly it, if it's a weekday flight the 16.50 will be more popular with business users!! Good to hear you got sorted though at least when you do eventually get through to them they are usually quite accommodating.
Love their Olympic -London Calling TV advert

tush,

BA199 is operated by Boeing 747-400. Row 53 recline but bear in mind you have the toilets behind them. Row 29 are in 3's with seats A and K being extra legroom. B & C are standard seats.

ba2726 03/09/12 gatwick to ibiza returning 13/09/12
is this going to be titan airways?

thanks

wiggleworth,

BA2726 is indeed scheduled to be operated by Titan Airways that day. It's to the same standard as BA so other than the colour scheme, you'll not notice too much of a difference.
