Money Exchange (dollars)

Hi

Has anybody any info/experience on changing currency at the normal shacks for money exchange. Specifically I was wondering about being able to change my old Dollars for rupees rather than sterling. Have quite a few Dollars to change. Would this have any issues?

stephen dont know about the shacks but im sure you could change them to rupees all over the place so many places now do exchange your money ,,,colleen

Thanks for the reply. It's more about if any problems exchanging Dollars for rupees rather than my native Sterling. Sounds non problematic but India can have problems where problems do not need to be!

No prob changing dollars I had some left over from a previous
Holiday and changed them last year. Changed them at a shop
Bit lower down from Bonnie's bar,he even had the rate on the
Board.Think most places will change them but if you get stuck
You can do it at that shop for sure.Have a good trip

Thanks for the reply. Seemed a better bet than to change them to Sterling before going and then to Rupee once there.

You wont have any problems changing dollars into rupees. Russian tourists all take dollars to goa to change into rupees. If you change your dollars into sterling then into rupees you will lose money twice on exchange rates. My friend takes dollar t/cheques when he goes to goa. Hope this helps.
