Help !!! In in a complaints system through Jet 2 following an all inclusive 11 night holiday to Rhodes in September of last year. After several months and emails back and forth I have been called by a Jet 2 complaints leader today to try to come to an agreement of a satisfactory amount of compensation. My holiday horror began when we arrived with cockroaches in our room, no available room to move to and a 2 and a 1/2 hour wait in the early hours of the morning whilst our room was fumigated against the cockroaches. The following morning upon daylight we noticed the state of our room.. Missing architrave, filthy areas flooring missing crack in hand basin shower head falling off etc , we went to reception again to complain and it was obvious we weren't the only ones unhappy. There was a queue of people of all nationalities complaining requesting room changes. When we reached the receptionist she had no time for us told us our name was in the diary and we would be informed of an available change of room. We we went for lunch to one of the restaurant s the standard of food poor, mostly cold and worst of all flies kept landing on several dishes continuously there was no electric devices anywhere to eradicate the insects... The problems continued ... At the pool area next to our room there were tiles missing the area around the pool was filthy, bins full of rubbish which attracted ants the shower area covered in filth and debris from nearby trees.. The sun beds were ripped and stained if you were lucky and searched you found a decent one. The toilets in the main reception area were disgusting filthy
and toilets covered in excrement. Overall our four star hotel barely deserved a two star. My low point saw me requesting an earlier flight home which could not be found. Has anyone had a similar experience with a hotel abroad and a complaint , my final offer of compensation today was of £350 cash which I still feel is not enough for the horror s we experienced. Total cost of holiday was £1700 the man on the phone today explained that the amount he offered was a reasonable amount as the flights transfers were in that cost. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Mrsc52, there are some posters on here that could help explaining your rights etc. fwh and jimd-f did help a previous poster who had an issue with a virgin complaint - hopefully they can help on here...
I have read you complaint, whilst I can understand your reasons for complaining before anyone can offer any assistance can you please tell us the name of the hotel? Did you speak to the rep (possibly getting them to inspect the conditions you speak of) and complete an "In-resort" complaint form whilst there? What did the rep say to you?
Jet2 appear to be accepting responsibility due to them offering you compensation. How many people were in your party as, unfortunately, they will take off flight & transfer costs?

Hi yes of course the hotel was the Miraluna hotel and spa kiatori Rhodes. I did see the jet 2 rep on numerous occasions as the reception staff were inundated with complaints and she had me complete a complaints form she tried to get us alternative accomodation but said most hotels were full and I would have had to pay. They did not inspect the conditions as she had obviously had previous complaints of a similar nature and even said she understood exactly why I was so unhappy.
Hi there were 2 of us and with my photographic evidence they obviously realise they have no alternative than to accept responsibility. I would be extremely surprised if they hadn't been inundated with complaints about the same hotel.
They are admitting fault by offering you compensation, it's a case now of how much that should be. Was there a breakdown on your invoice for flight & transfer prices?
You may need to speak to someone who deals in travel law and compensation claims. You could try http://www.holidaytravelwatch.com tell them you were sent from holiday truths.
